Today in the longside I overheard people next to me with an American accent and also saw some South Africans too under the concourse. After the game it looks like flemmings family was there embracing him and even sat next to me I had foreigners.

I just thought I’d start a thread because I think it is absolutely fantastic to see and goes under the rader at just how far we have come in terms of global appeal. 15 years ago you’d struggle to find any global fans at the turf apart from the odd one or two.

Long may it continue. Up the clarets.

There were a group of Dutch lads in front of me with a Fleming flag, they were great, and delighted with the goal and photo they got at the end.

It's brilliant, credit to them all for not doing the easy thing and following one of the big boys

Bloody foreigners.

Despite being retired, they'll be taking my job before I know it.

Foreign fans have been coming over for a good few years now I always stop to have a chat with Shirkey who sells scarves and badges by the old Wellington pub and there is always people from all over Europe stop and buy off him.I always have a chat if possible to try and find where they have travelled from and how they pick Burnley to watch I always encourage them to try a Bene n Hot too

There are 5 extra travelling over from the States for the Millwall game with JP Rosch the season ticket holder who comes over from Colorado.

I’m from North Carolina and I started following in 2014. NBC just got the contract for the premier league and all games were shown. I had no desire to follow a bandwagon team. Had no desire to be lost in a sea of supporters. I visited burnley last year and have to say the town and club were fantastic. Fans were nice and genuine. I struck up lots of conversations and some people couldn’t believe someone came all the way from the states for a burnley match. Food was cheap, beer was great… fun times and hope to visit again

Lots of people travel abroad to watch games and tick off grounds, i.e. groundhopping! Can imagine we're always on the list of someone to come & experience The Turf!

We are in Indiana, USA. Dad and I still manage to watch all the games just like we used to when I grew up in England. Glad for the tv coverage over here but it’s not the same as surviving the cold in the stadium and eating the pies!

I have a few family and friends who are just taking a interest in us from the Philippines even though it's a basketball country..

And yet, not to flog a dead horse, but half of the contributors to this board and more than at least one prominent mod seem to despise it. Rather Burnley was still Burnley owned by Burnley folk and you can only attend if you’re from Burnley.

I took my son on for his first game yesterday so had to move from my usual seat.

Ended up in NL1, which had a good 10+ blokes over from Northern Ireland, a group of kids visiting from the States, a couple of Scottish blokes who were having good natured Celtic/Rangers chat with the Northern Irish lot, and then behind us we had the players' families including the shed load of Dutch over for Zian which Gandhi mentioned.

Made it a really enjoyable experience for him!

When in the prem we get plenty ,obviously usually because of the opposition,though hardly a rare thing there’s always been ( for eg ) a few handfuls of Irish fans , dutch and I’ve always noticed you get a few fans from countries where we might have a player from .

Things recovering slowly… hurricane Helene hit the mountains of north Carolina pretty badly (which is unheard of)…. But things are slowly returning to normal but a long way to go for a lot of places around here.

I think JJ Watt is helping enormously in raising our profile overseas. Doing a great job off the field and helping our players learn how to win from his own personal experiences.

Glad to hear things getting better Asheville. Was down your way October of 2023 did some hikes in the Boone/Blowing Rock area - lovely countryside.
As others say above, the profile of the club has certainly increased dramatically over here in recent years. JJ helps, he is a huge personality in the US and always on TV. When I first moved over here in 2002 there was little interest in British football and no one was aware of Burnley. Different nowadays- I wear my old battered Burnley shirts in the gym and usually a club hat out hiking and often get comments / conversations.

I could see wrexham fans feeling that the essence of their club has changed since they were bought by the movie stars. I don’t think burnley will ever need to worry about that: i found the fans and town very genuine and can’t see it being spoiled .

North American Clarets used to have a fair membership but not been on for a while

Great to read this Prof, although the pies aren’t as good as they used to be so you’re not missing out as much as you think. Hopefully you and your Dad will get to watch a game in cold again together at some point.

Agree. Definitely doing such a great job and making a big impact.

From my perspective, the more interest in the club the better and he’s raising awareness in a very authentic and organic way.

Came over for the game on Saturday from Spain, waiting to board my plane on Sunday & there was 2 Asian lads in Burnley shirts getting on a flight to Dubai.

On train back into Manchester there were Icelandic fans

Not sure how many, but definitely quite a few. I wasn't part of that group, but came across them before and after the match and they were certainly in good spirits.

I was over from Friday to Sunday - airport/flight was great because no Man City/United fans about - it was bliss for once
