Are you envious?
I'm not sure.

In hindsight, Parker chose right team for Preston. We were fresh against Swansea and would be a distraction from the league. Would be playing Bristol City on Wednesday after Villa today. And they would obviously had no game this weekend.

Agree. I was fuming after that defeat but did think yesterday that I was glad we weren’t getting knocked out of the cup this weekend and were distraction-free going in to the final 8 games.

I had no real problem with the team selection on the day, but had a huge problem with how we went about trying to get a result.

The only time I'd be envious is if Preston get to the final.
We've played Villa many times in recent years, and beaten them, so it wouldn't have felt like a special occasion.
And playing at Wembley might be great (which I'd enjoy, like everyone else) it should only be reserved for the final.
But if Preston go one step further I'd have the regret that it could have been us.

Preston beating us in the last round was the best thing to happen for them in about two decades. I don't mind them having that as their day in the sun. As someone says further up, we've played and beaten Villa in the Premier League. Preston are about as close to Morecambe are to doing that.

Not even given it a thought !
4 M for winning the FA Cup or 150 M for winning the Championship (Which I think we will).
We would have murdered that lot with yesterday’s team - we did not want it !

Still think we should have put a stronger team out.

We haven't done cups since Coyle, have we?

Probably not. Maybe when Dyche first came he had to put a decent side out because our squad was so small.

We didn't score against Preston with 3 attempts this season. We didn't deserve it.

Yes, we've beaten them a few times over the years, but one of my earliest football memories is of listening to the radio at St.Andrews primary school in 1951 with a certain Jim Threlfall, (I wonder what happened to him), and hearing that they beat us 2-0.
A big disappointment for a couple of seven year olds.

The way things have gone since the Preston cup game it's looking increasingly like Parker got his priorities right, although I was unfortunate enough to be there to witness said cup game and at the time I really wasn't so sure.

There is nothing good about playing the wrong players and getting stuffed, to miss an FA Cup qtr final.

Existential matter Ian...there's a lot to be said for trying to make sure we still exist in 2 or 3 years time.

Players can do it, if they are convinced. Ours are.

We were playing for a place in the last 8 of the most famous and watched competition in the world, and we didn't even try.
