Trafford 6 - Sensational save before their goal but came flapping a few times.
Roberts - 5 - Targeted and bullied, he doesn't have the athleticism and size of Pires on the other side and it's there to be exploited.
Egan Riley - 8
Esteve - 9
Pires 9 MOM - I thought he was excellent in everything he did. Great use of the ball, defended really well and has the size to ensure he isn't bullied. He's got every attribute to be a very good full back.
Cullen 8
Laurent 6
Brownhill 8
Edwards 6
Foster 7 - Hit and miss on the ball but caused them problems with his running.
Anthony 9
Hannibal 7 great work rate
Sarmiento - 7 - same as Hannibal
Flemming - 6

Trafford - 8 - dealt well with high balls and one excellent save which should have secured a clean sheet.
Roberts - 7 - outstanding block which again should have secured a clean sheet, battled well against some physical opponents although not really an attacking feature.
Pires- 9 - immemse - his best performance for us. Defended resolutely and used the ball well in attack too.
Egan Riley- 8 - a tough examination passed with flying colours.
Esteve - 9 - a tough examination passed with flying colours and every shade of distinction.
Cullen - 7 - did really well for the equaliser and scrapped away in a very even midfield battle, although we didn't see his usual fluency in possession.
Laurent - 7 - got about the pitch and we needed his physicality.
Brownhill- 6 - got through plenty of work but not at his best.
Edwards - 7 - did superbly for the opener and was a threat throughout the first half. Quieter thereafter.
Anthony - 8 - two goals nicely taken, particularly the second which was harder than it looked.
Foster - 7 - gave us an outlet and whilst his initial pass was careless, kudos to the backheel to Anthont for the equaliser.
Flemming - 6 - not massively able to influence the game and should have fed Cullen late on.
Hannibal- 7 - apart from an unprofessional booking, helped shore us up.
Not a vintage performance but Coventry are a good sidevon their patch and we held them at arms length with a hugely resilient display after an unfortunate early set back. Huge heart, mentality and moments of quality.

A few candidates for man of the match and none more so than Cullen and the two centre halves, but I have to go with the player who scored both goals.
Overall, a really good performance after the early setback which I am assured is not even close to being onside.

I can't believe the ratings for Foster. Only 3 below 7 and they are 6s. He was dire. Many calling for him to be hooked on MDT and whilst I never call a player mid-match I was thinking the same.
A 4 at best.

To be fair, views on the matchday thread aren't usually the best to gauge how someone has played
Nobody deserved a 4 today

Totally agree with that comment. SP got them subs just right and their energy finished off any momentum Coventry were trying to build.

Gutsy performance against horrible opponents. The lads showed real cojones today.
Can't rate him but Hannibal did exactly what SP wanted him to. I thought the booking was harsh because it looked to me like he got well clattered.

The same MDT where generally our worst fans and the ones with least football knowledge lurk while most people are off enjoying the game. That MDT?

He was a 6 or a 7 (I’ve actually rated him a 7) but certainly not an 8 or a 9 as some have rated him…in my opinion, of course.
I thought he was the main reason for the conceded goal and am surprised this hasn’t had more of a mention. Lazily left Laurent to fight for a ball that was more his than Laurent’s and JL ended up losing the challenge with the Coventry player. But what was worse was that Pires was miles up the pitch and hadn’t bothered to cover back. He was well out of position and was hardly ‘busting a gut’ to get back either. Esteve and Egan-Riley then got dragged over too far.

From Goodies Bar in Spain
Trafford 7 did everything he had to
Roberts 7 under pressure at times but overall very solid
CJ 8 what a centre back pairing
Esteve 8 a young Virgil van Dycke
Pires 7 like Roberts, Coventry put him under pressure but he came through
Cullen 8 our best midfielder on the day
Laurent 6 he goes missing to often
Brownhill 6 another up and down game
Edwards 7 great on the ball in attack, we need to involve him more
Foster 7 I really want him to score more
Anthony 8 mom his two goals won us the three points, so he gets mom
Flemming 7 it’s never easy coming on and going up front as a one, but he was solid
Three extremely important three points against a good attacking Coventry team. This could prove to be the result of the season for us, especially as the other results went for us. We need to concentrate now on maintaining these high standards for the last few remaining games. Just a comment on Hannibal...he certainly brought us energy when he came on but the manager needs to have a quiet word with him to control and rein in his anger at other players and the officials. Well done to Scott Parker for his team mentality and strength which saw us through against a very good team.
