Jobe Bellingham

Possibly getting ahead of myself but I read this morning that Brighton are looking at signing him for 25m.
If we get promoted would he be a player you think we should go for at that kind of money?
In my opinion he would be a great addition

Ronaldinho's son, Bellingham's brother. We could become the team of relations of the famous. We should also look at Roy Keane's uncle and Jean-Pierre Papin's grandma.

Firstly, WELL ahead of yourself. He’ll probably knock us out of the playoffs now, thanks!
I was always shocked that we didn’t go for him when he left Birmingham for sub £2m. Matches our profile perfectly. A big no from me now though:
- Quality player and I’m sure he’s a nice guy but will inevitably create a media circus around him in the way Kompany did. We don’t need that. At least not until/if we’re reestablished at that level, but maybe ever.
- For the same reason (media attention), I don’t think he’d stay with us if we were relegated. I’d personally make that the first question I asked potential incomings this time around. I know it’ll be hard to find the quality that also have the right character but we should be looking at Esteve as the benchmark there and proof it can be done.
- At a cost of anywhere near £25m he’s too risky for us financially. He’s never played in the premier league and might not cut it. Doesn’t strike me as a player that would excel in a relegation battle. He might do a Delap in a good Brighton team but struggle with us. Brighton can afford to take that kind of hit but we cant.
- We need any available funds directed at more experienced players - 24, 25, 26 - still with a resale value but many seasons in the tank. We need men, as Matt said.
Now let us not talk about possible signings until we know what league we’ll be in please!!!!

Wouldn’t shock me. Not been seen in the Academy set up for a while.

He has 'Jobe' on his shirt to avoid the Bellingham tag because he wants to make it on merit, he strikes me as nothing but a model pro.
A fantastic talent we'd be lucky to have play for us he's without doubt in the top 3 midfielders in this league and definitely the one with the highest ceiling.
Yes £25 million would be a lot of money but he'd go for more next summer so would be good business, if we sign top young talent it's also in our interests that they move on upon relegation because we can't afford the transfer fees it's not all solely down to the players.
He's going to be and England international if we had the money and he wanted to come it's a no brainer, he's a powerful type midfielder we'd need in that league

Brighton will sign him, then sell him on for huge money as is the norm for them
He's the type of lad we need to get early on, like when he left Birmingham

£25m is still a lot of money. I’m not sure he’s going to turn into his brother.

Its a lot of money and I can only see a lower PL club taking a gamble-maybe Palace who have been incredibly successful in recruiting from the Championship and developing them into proper PL players

The vultures will be circling around Sunderland this summer if they don’t get promoted. Neil, Bellingham, Rigg, Isidor will probably all attract interest from PL clubs.

He's a unit is Jobe, couldn't get over how big he is when you see him on the pich.
He'll be a top level player.

Despite his penalty misses. I liked the look of Isidor. I would be looking at him if they fail to go up. I think he would suit us nicely. And there's still some potential in there, at 24 he is not the finished article.
Infact, without having much knowledge of the European market he's one that I had already had in the back of my mind.
Another to consider
If Enzo Le Fee is surplus at Roma and Sunderland have the chance of a permanent deal should they go up, then maybe he's another that could be tempted. Although I know there manager had a lot of sway in his arrival there.

I don’t think we would be able to get him but he’d be exactly what we need for the prem if we go up. Still a long way to go yet though.

IF we go up, I don't think we will have anything like the budget to spend £25m on one player (and frankly, that sounds too low for him in the current market. I wouldn't be surprised to see him go for quite a bit more, unless there is a clause). Bellingham seriously impresses me though, I think he is going to be an absolutely phenomenal player. I had no idea just how good he was until our 0-0 draw. He stood out.
On the summer window in general though, I just hope we have learned our lesson from last summer. Evolve the players we have with 3-4 excellent additions rather than spend another £150m. I appreciate the likes of Odobert, Trafford, Esteve, O'Shea and even Berge all resulted in decent profits but it felt like we did damage to the squads morale from an outsider looking in. If we could (hypothetically) sign a big, physical midfielder and the same up front, I would genuinely be reasonably happy already assuming we could keep hold of our main men. We need to be trying to get Brownhill and CJ's contracts sorted, make Anthony, Flemming, Humphreys and Edwards permanent etc. Are they good enough for the Premier League? I think a few of them are or could be, and they're certainly good enough to get us back up if we go down. We need to be thinking with one eye on that with how big the gap has become and to save us the need to utterly rebuild the squad once again if we do fail up there. That might sound defeatist, but it's probably realistic. It would be good for us to put some roots down with a large portion of this squad and continue to build up this great culture and atmosphere that Parker has cultivated at the club.
The romantic in me would love the club to try again for Tella and correct the mistake of summer 2023 too, something tells me Pace would as well. Realistic? No idea.

Unfortunately we’ll never see him in a Burnley shirt. We missed the boat on this when he left Birmingham.
Great talent, £25m in today’s market is an absolutely steal. I have a feeling Dortmund will be looking at him and replicate his brothers journey/development.

If we get promoted and not too many others are pulling up trees to get him then it's not out of this World. He's hardly set the World on fire at Sunderland
