Football League record equalled

Our twelfth 0-0 of the season.

Equalling the record held by Tranmere since the early seventies.

Not great, but the result from Bramall Lane makes it easier to swallow!

UTC!

If you can't win, don't lose.

100% - How many times have we seen Burnley teams lose matches like tonight over the years? Parker's pragmatism might not always be exciting but it could well be what gets us promoted at the end of the year.

Yeah, I did a lot of searching a few weeks ago for that and posted on another thread.

12x 0-0’s is a stupid amount really.

If we win every other game left but draw 0-0 v Sheffield United to take the record I’d be okay with that. :D

Certainly speaks well of our defence.

Out of interest, of those 12 stalemates, how many would you look back on and think we were pushing for a winner at the end?

I'm not sure what else we could have done in the end to be honest. They literally parked the bus for the last 25 mins and in the 8 mins time added must wasted at least half of them

What does football matter at all. You decide.

Nothing if you wanna get deep about it.
I don't see your point about the question posed regarding out of the 12 how many we pushed for the win. What does it matter now? Would you pose that question at the end of the season if we go up?

The negativity of some posters is astonishing.
We have just picked up a point in a difficult game, we are second in the league with five games to play, we are 28 games unbeaten and have still only conceded 12 goals.
If fans would have been offered this scenario at the start of the season, and especially at the end of the first transfer window, surely almost everyone would have been happy.

A tough game on a non league pitch with many players looking leggy from the off.A good point but I felt better use of all our squad and we could have won.Hannibal on from the start and Sarmiento and Ash for Laurent and Foster at half time might have swung it.But now we must push on 5 more wins and we are up.UTC

I’m not sure how much of an impact Barnes and Foster swapping places on the bench would have had, tbh.

Didn’t Cloughs Forest break our 30 game record but over two seasons?

They did, and Leeds equalled the record too. Arsenal managed to get beyond it, but no other team has done it twice (I don't think).

It's incredible that our last two Championship seasons have been record breaking in quite differing ways.

Maybe someone can correct me on the 30 game unbeaten League record, but didnt Leeds play Stoke City either on there 30th game to equal it, but lost, i think it was 2-1, also iv just seen that Leeds are at home on Monday & guess who they are playing...............yep ! Stoke City at 15-00.....please let Stoke Win or a draw would be nice,,,,,,,,,,,,,,UTC.

Im pretty sure that you are correct about that Leeds defeat at Stoke, I seem to recall that they were on 29 unbeaten up to then.

So maybe one or two more of those stats aren't quite correct?

Hi Targetman.....im almost 100% sure that it was Leeds 30th game to equal our record and am sure it was at Ellend road, not at Stoke, i think they were winning 1-0 at ht... but Stoke scored 2 in the 2nd half....Claret Tony will know better than me.

I think Claret Tony will know the facts better, but im sure the record was at Elland road, not at Stoke, i know Leeds were winning and Stoke won 3-2 in the end, but i could be wrong, nice clip by the way, same result against Leeds on Monday will be just fine     .

Avoid defeat next week and we equal the record of 33 consecutive EFL league games undefeated set by Reading in 2006.

One more clean sheet to be the outright clean sheet record holders in a single season.

In terms of goals conceded (both top flight)

Chelsea - 15 goals in a 38 game season (2004-05)
Liverpool - 16 goals in a 42 game season (1978-79)

Championship Record

30 - Watford (2020-21) and Preston (2005-06)

I believe James Trafford has also equalled Jim Stannard's thirty year old, 29 clean sheets record.

It was a joint record of 29 clean sheets and 20 goals conceded which he will break both with a clean sheet against Millwall.
