We need to focus on winning the league, not on if we are going to mess it up. I'm pretty confident the lads think the same

7 from 4 is right because we play Watford before we play Sheffield United.

I know that. But sealing promotion is pretty much dependent on the SU game. So worth working the permutations around that

I'm not taking ANYTHING for granted.
We draw against Watford and Sheffield Utd beat us and Cardiff we are all square again.
As the old saying goes, one game at a time!

Modern day players must be motivated by getting the job done and having an extra couple of weeks off in some exotic location rather than the dreaded play offs.

Exactly, not beyond the realms of possibility that Sheff Utd overtake us after Easter Monday's game.

Focus should be win next match, then next match, then next match, then next match. If we succeed, likely we will the league.
That should be the goal.

Yeah we are buzzing now, I haven't felt confident about promotion until now - the Sheffield lot know it, they are play off bound.

It's a huge bonus that we have a week before the next game. We can prepare really well and treat it like a cup final. If we beat Watford it's hard to see us not getting promoted, even if we lost to Sheff Utd which I don't see happening.

I'm terrified we will blow this one. I then went on the Sheffield forum and everyone and I mean everyone has accepted they are now in the playoffs. Come on Burnley.

What I meant to post was
No easy games
Watford still fighting for play off spot
Utd have to beat us
QPR likely season over
Millwall in or fighting to get or stay in play offs

There are 12 points available and we have a 5 point start. Sheffield have about a 2pt per game record - that would give them 8.
If we only drew every game that would be 9 to make up from only 9 points (because 1 of those 4 games is a draw against us) so that's almost impossible given they'd need to win each game 6 or 7 nil.
That's why I am confident we will go up automatically. I expect Leeds are the same as well which means they'll probably improve their return now. The title could go to the wire but this afternoon Sheffield basically gave it up when Plymouth got te 2nd. The body language and reaction of their players was complete and utter defeat. They are done.

I think anyone writing Sheffield United off at this stage is decidedly unwise. Certainly we have a clear advantage both in points and in form. But it's a bit like a two nil lead in a single match - it can feel comfortable but then become uncomfortable very quickly. Sheffield United are suddenly in the position of having nothing to lose and the expectation is all on us.
On Friday, on paper we have the tougher game and play first. If we wobble then that will lift Sheffield United and their crowd and if they win then suddenly we'll be protecting a 2 or 3 point lead going into our clash with them and all the obvious permutations apply. Best to keep that one game at a time focus and not get carried away. I'm sure that will be Parker's approach.

Need to be aware of all scenarios until the job is done, including the fact it's still possible for sheff utd to go above us, unlikely but possible. Take our eye off the ball and relax now and it could spell disaster.

A lot of twists and turns to go yet. But the main thing that is making me sleep well, is that the players are (so far) showing no signs of nerves. We were so close to blowing Norwich away on Friday, it could have been 3 or 4 at half time. The players tired in the second half.
The only negative that could throw us is Fosters injury, as we are looking so light up top. Flemming looked knackered after 60 mins on Friday.
One I'm worried about is us playing for a tactical point against the blades, as it could stop us winning the league, and also I don't think it suits us to play that way.

by what now !
there is a down side to us winning our next 2 games, the likelihood is that if we do that that Leeds will be promoted with us , it is an acceptable down side in that the main aim is getting promoted and this may be controversial but i would rather Leeds than Sheff utd get promoted with us

I have read this 3 times and I am still none the wiser.
Would you prefer us to let Blades win so that may mean Sheff U and us go up instead of Leeds? Some risk is that.
Then you say you would prefer Leeds to Blades to go up.

If we beat Watford and they lose to Cardiff the Easter Monday game becomes almost irrelevant regarding promotion. 8 points clear with nine to play for would be a fairly safe bet for us. I have said all season we would be promoted as Champions and I still think we will. Leeds might just have got over their ‘wobble’ but we are still the most consistent side in the division. We need to forget the Blades and just make sure we win our remaining games. And yes I am fully aware that we can’t totally forget them with having to play them but I think most people will get my gist.

We have the toughest games on paper with 3 London clubs in 9, 11 and 15th places and Sheffield. So I’m not counting any chickens
Extending the clean sheets is crucial and we need more shots on target and goals to be sure. 47 goals in 38 games isn’t great after 10 in 4.
Sheffield have Cardiff 22 and Blackburn 10 at home and us and Stoke 18 away
Interesting that Leeds have to play away at Oxford 17 with Plymouth 24 in last game and both beat Sheffield U. This is the time when funny results occur with teams fighting relegation. Stoke 18 aren’t clear either whilst Bristol City 6 want a play off place. I’m hoping there are some funny Leeds results and we could end up as champions.

I think most, if not all teams go through a period where they struggle to pick up points.
Leeds have had theirs but seem back on track now whilst Sheff. Utd
have lost their last three. Nobody could have predicted those 3 results.
We don't appear to have had such a period and I can't recall
that we have and I hope and pray that we don't thrown one in during
our last 4 games.

Norwich were 11th, Derby were 21st or so, and yet Derby gave us a much tougher game than Norwich did. At this stage of the season, I don't think a mid-table nothing-to-play-for team is a harder fixture than one battling relegation. (And Sheffield united would agree!)

I would rather play a mid table team who's season is all but over and safe than a team fighting relegation woes tbf
I don't think Watford fans would like being called a London Club
