Lancashire v Northants ...

Another shocker from Lancashire, made to follow on after putting Northants in to bat and watching them 496 ... Lancs then compiled 228, with Keaton Jennings contributing 95, they're currently 6/1, needing 268 to make Northants bat again ...
Not good ...

Our lineup in both batting and bowling looks very poor.

Completely ignored top quality talent in certain local leagues for decades, they reap what they sow in my opinion and that's hard to say as a born and bred Lancastrian.
The fact that a club, and a County the size of Lancashire is loaning players is a scandal in itself..

As long as there’s concerts and a hundred team to represent Manchester, they don’t care. They’re building a second ground so that Old Trafford’s concert calendar don’t get disrupted.

Totally agree, Old Trafford is rapidly becoming a hotel/business centre/concert venue with cricket, especially 4 day cricket right at the back of the queue..
They only seem interested in money spinning International games, the farcical hundred and some T20 fixtures.

I’ve been a Lancashire member since 1984, but I won’t be renewing next season.
I don’t like the way cricket is going. Red ball cricket is being slowly phased out.

Commercial stuff aside, I don’t know why Jennings put them in. Two days of nice sunshine for them to bat in then we go in when the weather turns.

I wouldn't have thought he'd have been the most popular man in the dressing room when he announced he'd won the toss, and decided to bowl first..
Very strange considering we've had an unusually dry March/September, and the OT pitch is well known for spinning later in the game...

Meanwhile in division 1, I'm sure all cricket lovers would like to join me in congratulating Yorkshire on a record breaking 504 run winning margin yesterday.

What do you think the punishment for Bairstow's dissent should be? Couple of games to help old sulky chops try and learn to behave properly.

We’ll take that but some very poor decisions in the first few matches. As has been pointed out by Dande and lakedistrict, the red ball side isn’t deemed a priority any more and that’s very sad.

Didn't know that; where's the new ground going to be? In the Old Trafford footprint?

Think it's in Farington, Leyland area..
They've already said one of the two pitches will be for community use too, but I'm sure this will only mean cup finals etc, can't see them allowing normal league teams to have games there. They will also play Lancashire age group games there, second team games, and there will be a centre of excellence for women's cricket.
As previously mentioned by a few of us, this is the death of any cricket at OT that isn't international or the men's game. I'd assume the only reason they got £1.6 million from the ECB was because of the facilities for women's cricket, and community use that they are claiming will be an option.
OT really will become a "venue" now rather than one of the most famous cricket grounds in the world..There's a reason all those hotels have gone up, and it's not just so they can be filled for the odd Ashes test match here and there every few years..

Definitely at Farington and set to be in use from the start of the 2026 season.

Whatever will they think of next? Moving the Lancashire CCC ground to Lancashire from Cheshire/Greater Manchester. Maybe they will concentrate on the team after the move.

It's never been in Cheshire as it's north of the Mersey, and it was in Lancashire a hell of a lot long than than it was Greater Manchester.

But Old Trafford hasn't been in Lancashire for around 40 years now. And is unlikely to ever be so again.

But it was for many, many years prior to that. You couldn't expect them to up sticks just because the boundaries were changed.
