Don’t know what we have to do to get a free kick from this clown.

Started off poorly but got the sendings off correct. Will probably get slated on this thread but I thought he did okay in a difficult game to officiate.

Bit of a magician was this ref, loved shuffling his cards and made 2 players disappear !!

Better with his cards than Paul Daniels.

I keep seeing players being pushed in the back and nothing being done about it. There was one on Edwards near the bye line in the 1st half, a blatant push but totally ignored and accepted by the referee as legitimate.

Difficult game but he did very well. Got all the major decisions right, making him the best ref we’ve seen this season by a country mile.

I thought he handled a very difficult 2nd half well. Watford lost the plot. Burnley deserves praise for maintaining their discipline.

I think the ref got a bit card happy but Watford lost the plot and have only themselves to blame

A. 17
B. 17
C. 20
D. 16
A bit difficult to judge in some ways, there was that much going on but generally I thought he did ok and did try to keep the game moving as best he could.

A. Decision Making 12
B. Consistency 6
C. Fitness and Positioning 18
D. Control and Authority 5
Some absolutely baffling decisions
No foul for a blatant charge on Edwards first half
For some reason gave a goal kick when should have been a corner for a tackle on Roberts
Also didn't give a foul when their defender shepherded the ball out about 3 yards from the ball including a push on Edwards
Also didn't blow for a foul from Hannibal until we looked like we would benefit from a counter
Seemed determined not to book some people, but happily booked others for no reason - the Cullen one makes no sense. Pollock should have been booked more than once.
Then seemed determined to lose control of the game unnecessarily
But I would argue that he was in a really good position most of the time to make his decisions even more baffling
All in all, I just didn't see a ref who had any real clue what constituted a foul. And what was a fair tackle. I think he was guessing most of the time

Strange performance. Gave nothing first half with the usual shoves and pushing. Not bothered about yards. Quite a bit after after the ball. Then similar sort of offences got punishment second half. Watford lost it completely in a way I've not seen for a while. He then stepped in and sorted them out.
A - 15
B - 10
C - 17
D - 10

Lost control of the game early on and failed to clamp down on things.
Would probably have been helpful if he had been drug tested at half time.

I never knew that barging into the back of a player with such force to knock him over was allowed in football. Must be a new rule change

Then Burnleys second goal would have wrongfully been chalked off as Flemming clearly barged a player away and then we scored

It's all about the wording of the rules - excessive force, reckless etc
Some force and contact is allowed and part of the game. Edwards was barged off the ball deliberately with excessive force and it was a clear foul. Flemming used some force, but it wasn't overly aggressive, and I don't think it was excessive necessarily. I've seen them given, but i think its reasonable to suggest that he hasn't gone over the threshold of what constitutes a foul. Certainly the Watford player staying on his feet helps. But you're allowed to create space for yourself/others

He didn't barge him over from behind though that's the point I'm trying to make.
