Ashley Westwood - Charlotte - Eastern Conference

Post by IanMcL » Sun Apr 20, 2025 1:32 pm

The result is on the BBC fixtures/results.

Won 3 - O

Charlotte, managed by Dean Smith, are top of the Eastern Conference. Beckham's Inter Miami, third.

Westwoodi s captain and got an assist.

Good to see wx Clarets, who gave their all, doing well, elsewhere. Scott Arfield top of Scottish Championship with Falkirk..

They’ve had a very good start to the season and the signing of Wifrid Zaha has made a positive impact on their team. Westwood seems to be loving his time there judging by his social media and interviews he has given.

He seems to be absolutely loving life, completely immersed in the community and loved by the fans.

He was exactly the same at Burnley, maybe not completely immersed in the community but always pleasant and chatty with fans.

He's also playing really well - extended his career quite nicely.

I didn't know Arfield had gone back to his first club.

Went back there at the end of January transfer window on a 6 month deal with an option of a further year. Scored 45 seconds on his return on his way to a hat trick and currently has 8 goals in 9 games.

I'm glad for Ashley. Seems to have gone there fully committed and it's proving successful.

Given this board seems obsessed with resigning ex-players I'm surprised nobody has suggested it yet.

You'd imagine they'll want to keep him.
