Can hardly speak a word of English, in and out of the side then has stepped up massively. Fair play to him, he's done really really well

Let's be honest, who wasn't worried when we knew about Bashir's injury?
This lad has just been excellent. Just excellent.

Not me but there was plenty on the other thread about him.
Let's hope it doesn't get brought back up to save a lot of arguing though.

South Americans nearly always take a season to adjust to English football, I think we are starting to see just how good Pires is, bodes well if this is the baseline for him and he gets better next season as a lot of South Americans do in their 2nd season.

Most improved player in a season of all time
Been absolutely excellent since he's had to play every game
I thought he was a potential calamity 6 months ago - not anymore
Absolutely chuffed for him

He was our weakest link for large parts of the first half of the season, he is now one of our most consistent players.
He has to take great credit to how he's adapted and improved, the switching of Anthony has helped bring him massively as they dovetail nicely.

Heβs done brilliantly since coming in for Humphreys.

Was an unfair target at the start of the season. Has improved but only as he's devolped his role in the side more and seen more of the ball. Has started to do what Roberts does on the right in coming inside and affecting play in different areas.

He's really blossomed these last few weeks and looks every bit a quality left back. Can see him only getting better and better as he has all the raw materials to do so..

And possibly his English has improved as he's improved on the pitch... coincidence?

I like Humphreys but this lad has robbed his position after injury like CJ has taken Worralls. Superb for months.

I am not his biggest fan but his improvement is there to see. That was his best game for us

Odd player from a fan perspective. After 4 games he was being hailed as the next Carlos.
20 games later he wasn't fit to lace Bashir's boots. Now he is being hailed again as a top player.
Us football fans definitely ain't fickle

Like most players he ws pre judged by some our 'expert' fan base. Completely without foundation, the same ones that said CJ ER wasn't good enough.

Another excellent display along with everyone else. He's got all the attributes to succeed in the Premier League as well.
I'd have a right back as the priority in the transfer window now far more than left back.

I had my doubts about him, heβs turning out to be a real Vitinho and showing his worth, hopefully we donβt sell him unexpectedly

He really was superb today β¦ the upward curve in his performance over this last , crucial phase of the season has been brilliant.

He was great again today. It's almost as if players need a run of games and time to settle in before we see what they are really all about. Particularly when moving to a new country with little grasp of the language.

Maybe he just needed regular football, it can't be easy to pick up form when you're sharing a position with another player.

He is very talented and pacy. Will be a good wing back when we play with 3cbs.

He played well at Southampton in a back 5. Only Southampton of course but has improved in our normal system by the week it seems. Will likely be very useful next season.

Glad you're back in the pack Goliath. We are stronger together. Always Burnley. Only Burnley.

Most improved player award.......yep when I was told at the beginning nof March (from a very good source) that Humphreys' season was over... I was nervous.
I still think the Premier League would be a step too far.
