We have to asssume the real one will be at Plymouth on Saturday ready for Leeds.

Will we be on the inflatables again should we finish top? Or will they at least sort a proper replica, I wonder?

There’s noway on earth a basically already down Plymouth are beating Leeds so it is irrelevant. We will be presented with the runners up trophy and medals after the game.

They don't have to beat them, just avoid defeat (as long as we win). You're probably right, though.

But, but trophy's can't be handed out to the away team according to the EFL.....

Surely they have a replica trophy to take to one ground or the other...

Though I'd have also thought that when we beat Charlton away.

I think they'll bring it to the Turf as we're playing at home. If Leeds win the league they'll give them to trophy to lift at a parade after the final game rather than lifting it away from home.

Wasn’t the reason at Charlton the planned protests from their fans?

If we win, Leeds would have to win too because we're level on points.

Oh not sure. Someone on another thread mentioned it being a rule that you can't lift it away from home.

Was speaking to a Man United fan recently who seemed to recall them lifting the trophy at Wigan on the final day a few years ago. Maybe different rules for PL and EFL.

Exactly. Bournemouth had won the league there a year earlier and there were issues presenting the trophy. They ensured that wasn’t going to happen again.

The league don’t need to send a trophy

We already have our own replica trophy that we could use if necessary

I think that even if we finish 2nd we should get out the replica to make up for the inflatable debacle at Charlton 🤣

That wasn't the reason they gave.

They said it is more appropriate to make a trophy presentation in front of as many supporters as possible. Ideally, we would be in a position to do this at a home stadium but as I’m sure you can appreciate, this is not always possible. In the case of Burnley, we believe we have achieved the next best thing in terms of a civic presentation in the town.

But realistically it probably was the actual reason given there would have been a lot more Burnley fans at Charlton than could fit in front of the town hall.

Interesting to look back on that match given the recent chat about pitch invasions, it was hugely amicable with Charlton fans congratulating uson promotion and Burnley fans joining in with the Charlton protests.

It was amicable. I don't remember players being confronted and expensive equipment being vandalised either.

Maybe that's the difference?

Sorry if it's already been mentioned but didn't 2nd place used to lift a trophy? I seem to remember us doing this first time round under Dyche. Is this not the case any more?

Not the reason they gave, but none of these reasons applied the year before for Bournemouth?

Bournemouth got a civic trophy presentation and parade back in Bournemouth on top of being presented with the trophy in front our their away following.

It was blatant hypocrisy and double standards.

Yes there's a trophy for the runners up in the EFL. There were pictures of Wrexham lifting the League 1 runners up trophy the other day....

I suspect it wouldn’t have been that amicable had we been pipped to the title that day.
Especially with how their fans disturbed the game.

I’m not so sure. It had been a love in pre match in the pubs. Burnley fans had loads of sympathy with Charlton’s situation. We were joining, and starting, their anti owner songs. It was very unlikely we would lose with their dodgy midfield and goalie.

There was a settee at one corner of the pitch where fans could watch the game as some sort of sponsor's gimmick. The Charlton fans ripped it to shreds during the pitch invasion. Not sure whether the club/owner billed them for it.

Nothing on the football league website, no mention of a presentation after the game at Plymouth on the Leeds website.

They have announced a parade and said there is no focal point so its not clear where they would receive the trophy.
