Enjoy Silky! Rossendale from the same division won their cup final last night on penalties.

Might go for a bit of nostalgia. Pity it's not at Prinny Hill, well named.
Makes me chuckle, when I read of football grounds having a slope.
Just surprised I never saw regular shots from the centre circle, kicking down hill. Mind you, a good number would have gone over the bar.

Very nostalgic, Darnhill. Wonderful memories for me of time spent down at Prinny Hill in the 1960's with great friends, too many of whom no longer with us.
Won a Cup Final there in a replay in 1966. The Manchester train line running adjacent to the pitch, the steeped banking on one side of the pitch that offered great viewing. The spacious changing rooms and all those great people then that made the venue such a happy place. Might see you tonight, then.

Trawden Celtic won the Amateur Cup at the LFA the other week and had the same inflated prices.

More than worth it for those that were there though.

Congrats to St Mary's. Didn't make it, the afternoon didn't end unfortunately. Silky, was one of your group, a (Tony) Gallagher by any chance? Also knew a lad on Clegg Street, same age, but can't recall his name right now.

Yep, Tony was definitely one of our group. Known by most people as Oscar. He's been chairman at St Mary's for a very long time now and was obviously there last night. Good centre forward when we were all a lot younger. Another of our group who lived on Clegg St.ipposite the old grammar school was George Mullaney.
Yesterday you mentioned a 'slope' at the old Prinny Hill ground. Was with my friend Chris Chaplow( Richard's dad) last night and he thinks you were mixing up St Mary's ground with that of St James' next door that had a very pronounced slope on it.

Yeah, St James's at Prinny Hill. Wasn't mixing them up, just saying about the slope at Prinny Hill.
St Mary's as you say had the completely flat pitches, parallel to the railway line. Yeah, that's right, Oscar.
Chris Chaplow, I still owe him a few kicks from our lunchtime school football sessions. How he fathered a footballer, I've no idea!!
George Mullaney, I used to get looked after by his mum, until my mum finished work and collected me. Last time I saw George was at Manchester Apollo, at a Melanie concert.
