Re: Burnley v Millwall - Player Ratings
An enjoyable afternoon despite the Leeds result.
Trafford - 7 - couple of tidy saves.
Roberts - 6 - a couple of shaky or sloppy moments but not bad.
Pires - 7 - some lovely touches and passes although I thought he could have done more to cover the near post and therefore prevent Millwall's goal.
Egan Riley - 7 - caught out a couple of times but still impressive and hopefully we can get him tied down. Gorgeous ball for the second goal.
Esteve - 7 - will be disappointed with Millwall's goal but stood up well to the bombardment.
Cullen - 8 - as reliable as ever and nice to hear his name being sung.
Brownhill- 9 - a superb all round performance capped with two excellent finishes. 18 for the season is a remarkable return from midfield and he deserves the plaudits. Hopefully again he will take the chance to finally crack the Premier League with us but if this is the end for him, what an ending it's been.
Hannibal- 9 - growing into a midfielder of real stature at the moment and our best player whilst he was on the pitch.
Edwards- 6 - a couple if lovely moments but jot everything came off for him.
Anthony- 7 - took his goal with aplomb although by then he should already have had a hat trick.
Barnes - 7 - gave our attack a focal point even if he's not quite got his old snap. Defended effectively when required.
None of the subs on long enough.
A shame we didn't win the league but we still went out on a high and back to back 100 point Championship seasons is a record in itself that noone can take away from us. After an even first half in which both goals looked questionable but 1 apiece was still a fair score, we ran away with the second and should have had 3 or 4 before Anthony put us ahead after one of our most incisive 20 minute spells of the season. We went slightly off the boil as the game went on but remained the better side and 3-1 was about right.
A good end then to an outstanding season. The players and staff can take the plaudits, enjoy their holidays and in a couple of cases hopefully sign new deals before back to the hard graft of preparing for the Premier League.

Re: Burnley v Millwall - Player Ratings
A perhaps understandably nervous-looking start culminated in a poor goal given away but the reply was instantaneous and there was only one team going to win the game after that. Some brilliant football at times and the second goal was a thing of beauty.
Trafford 8 safe and sound
Roberts 7 seemed to have a bit of a struggle at times but no real worries
Egan-Riley 8 ping
Esteve 8 Rolls de Royce
Pires 7 caught out of position a few times
Cullen 8 metronome
Brownhill 9 best midfielder in the championship and player of the season, no question. Unlucky not to have a hat trick.
Hannibal 8 went down far too easily which put us on the back foot for their goal but he was very good indeed after that
Edwards 7 was hardly in the game then practically his first touch was a lovely ball through their defence
Anthony 8 two poor finishes gave way to one fine one and his first touch remains the benchmark
Barnes 7 really important today and involved in getting us level so quickly
Not arsed about the title as we're joint top in the points with 100. We’ve won it plenty recently, Leeds can have a go with it. We’re the best team in the league, neither Leeds nor Sheffield United could lay a glove on us and going 33 unbeaten, with never more than one conceded, speaks for itself. A slight shame we haven’t won it outright as I think we could have been even better than the points suggest but it was promotion that was the requirement and we’ve done that in style.

Re: Burnley v Millwall - Player Ratings
Trafford 7 - Solid.
Roberts 6 - Crossing was woeful. To put it mildly.
Egan Riley 6 - very wobbly at times but set up the winner with a brilliant assist
Esteve 8 - excellent
Pires 8 - both ends he was excellent and has been our best player in the last 10 games
Cullen 7 - made us tick as ever
Brownhill 9 - outstanding desire and drive, couple with strong finishing
Hannibal 8 - energy, trickery and a bit of shithousery thrown in
Edwards 9 MOM - his trickery and movement caused total chaos maybe a dozen times, unlucky with end product
Barnes 8 - superb blast from the past and put himself about to great effect
Anthony 8 - wonderful first touch and great winner, loses a mark for terrible decisions and finishing earlier
On the whole a glorious performance with a little wobble defensively and a few nerves once it became aware we had moved top in the first half.
Hard to single out players but I thought Edwards was superb today and based on the ratings and Dandeclaret’s Edwards thread this week, I think he is underappreciated. His “take ons” and “carries” today were at the very high end of the range. He roamed around, finding space often (at times not spotted). He had several shots or near shots and was very unlucky not to score, I remember one block in particular. Their defending was top notch (the clearance off the line from Anthony being another). So Marcus isn’t quite getting the goals and assists he deserves but his performances are vital to us being more offensive overall.
Really bodes well for next season even if we lose a couple. May be silly if these players jump ship though - the team spirit is unique and the grass may not be greener.
p.s. the idiots booing Tresor, was a very small minority, I hope he realises this. Most of us clapped him and maybe in time the truth will come out as to his absence.

Re: Burnley v Millwall - Player Ratings
From a busy Goodies Bar in Benalmádena
Trafford 7 will he be with us next season?
Roberts 7 good all round performance apart from three poor crosses
CJ 7 a bit wobbly a couple of times when they ran at us in numbers in the first half
Esteve 8 I really hope he is with us next season. He is on of our few players who is PL ready
Pires 7 good going forward
Cullen 8 does he ever have a bad game
Hannibal 9 he really is starting to understand his role in the team.
Brownhill 9 my mom, I gave him mom because of his total involvement in everything we did going forwards
Edwards 6 he was good when he was in the game, which, unfortunately, was too little
Barnes 8 I was surprised how well he played in holding up the ball, whilst some of his passes out the wide players were sublime
Anthony 8 he has grown on me as the season has gone on. He is now much more committed and involved than at the beginning of the season.
Parker (for the whole season) 9,5. He took on a tough job, never complained, got on with the job of moulding a young team together, steadily improving in every match as the season went on. He truly deserves the accolades and awards he is winning
Millwall came at us all guns blazing for the whole of the first half and I was happy with 1-1 at half time. We ground them down with high quality football in the second half and came out worthy winners. I was a bit deflated when Leeds scored in injury time, but soon recovered to celebrate with a few cold Mahous. It’s going to be interesting to see the departures and signings in the coming weeks, I feel more confident than I was after VK’s summer window. Also, Well done to Alan Pace and his fellow board members for getting it right with the appointment of Scott Parker and his team.

Re: Burnley v Millwall - Player Ratings
Trafford - 7 Decent game, overall, and made a couple of good saves. Still makes me nervous when he dallies on the ball, but I, m getting more comfortable that he knows what his options are. Interesting to see how a top premier team will press .
Roberts - 6 Made himself very available in midfield to nullify their press and linked up well on the right. Crossing was below par though.
Pires - 6 Reads the game well and some timely interceptions. To my mind he's improved over the season but I still have doubts about his ability to defend well. Was missing for the goal.
Egan Riley - 7 At 6 ft he's on the short side for a centre half and struggled with the aerial threat from the brobdingnags. Thought his passing was not quite at his imperious best, but then produced a wonderful pass for the 2nd goal.
Esteve - 7 Millwall won so many aerial duals from long balls and he seemed to struggle in the 1st half; better in the 2nd. Reliable on the ball and uses it well; a calming influence.
Cullen - 8 Moved the ball around so well.
Brownhill- 9 Superb energy and also scored a couple, and 1 a free kick! Excellent.
Hannibal- 8 Getting better and better. Another energetic display, coupled with premier touches, 'till he ran himself into the ground. Top quality ran and pass to Anthony for a really good chance.
Edwards- 6 Not at his best. Could beat his man but poor decisions and although he tracks back more now, it's not his strength.
Anthony- 7 Had his marker on toast much of the afternoon, so much quicker and with his exquisite 1st touch there was a real opportunity for him to put the game out of sight. Took his goal well but it should have been 1 of many.
Barnes - 7 Reminded us what a proper centre forward does and his efforts for the the 1st goal were impressive. Useful in our box as well.
