Congratulations Leeds

As much as it pains some of you, I think we all have to congratulate Leeds and say well done for winning the league. You have to go back 5 years for the last time the Championship was won by a team who wasnt relegated from the Premier League the previous season which shows what an achievement it is for them to out perform all three relegated teams.
It has been a fantastic season for Burnley and to get 100 pts and finish second is hard to take but Leeds have undoubtedly been the best team this season and despite how close Burnley ran them the table doesn't lie
So well done Leeds and the battle with them will continue next season but this time it will be for 17th and not 1st

scored 95 goals, congrats to them for sure but considering we didn't play for a third of the season for us to finish on the same points is an incredible achievement

How many goals/ points did the ‘Undoubted best team in the league ‘ score /win against us ? Obviously my mind is playing trick on me cos I was sure they scored none and only scraped 1 point over the two games.

Indeed. Yes, they were the best team in the Championship because they finished top, but this idea that they were far better than anyone else is simply untrue.
You don't finish above another team on GD if you have a much better team, manager or players.
It shows they were just marginally better than us in ability over the 46 matches.

They got so many points from 90+. I don’t make that an excuse for us not winning because most times their last 10mins was continuous pressure and they earned the points it won them. Just jealous that we couldn’t do the same in all the 0-0 draws we spunked points away.

Bit of a myth about who played well and when. Here’s the halfway table and we were 1 point behind them. And they’d played a home game more with an excellent home record.

Post the table when we were quite a few more points behind and everyone gave up on the top 2. We got 100 points and any other season we would have won the league easy.I would be surprised if anyone has a season like our and does not finish top I'm a happy Claret for one with a mild sense of disappointment with Leeds scoring so late UTC

No disappointment at all from me. I will take 100 points 30 clean sheets 33 undefeated and counting Third highest scorers and took 4 points off the eventual Champions and did the double over the third placed team every season. By the way we are the only team to get 100 points in consecutive Championship seasons Thank you Clarets for a magnificent season. Onwards and upwards

Yeah, f**k Leeds, arrogant bunch of tossers who seem to think they are the biggest club in the world!?!?
I heard some knobhead on talk sport earlier saying ‘who cares about Burnley, except for their 20,000 fans’! I was tempted to call in to point out that whilst many might not care about Burnley, the same people would be more than happy to see Leeds disappear from existence!

Always interesting to see the same events from another perspective.
My view is, on the ‘best team’ debate I have to say there was absolutely nothing in it. You have to look at the totality of the season and the table rarely lies. Clearly we were the best 2 teams and Sheffield the 3rd best, but well behind us.
It is maybe oversimplifying but Burnley built success off a great defence, we did it by creating millions of chances and occasionally scoring one of them. A team building g from N a strong defence (like the Leeds teams I watched as a boy) will tend not be the best on GD so that’s maybe why we pipped you.
Will be interesting to see how the two teams do against better opposition next season, I’m wondering if your defence might be more use to you than our highly wasteful attacking machine. Who knows….. I guess we will both strengthen anyway.
Well done on taking most of the points in our two encounters. (Incidentally, the ‘top 3’ encounters were what really did for Sheffield U, their record was played 4, lost 4, nil points.

Well done, Leeds. They’ll go down in history as the best team in the league this year.
However, 4 points taken from them, 100 points scored, only 16 goals conceded and 33 games unbeaten paints a slightly different picture.
They might be the champions, but we are the record breakers.

If the goals conceded was a record it will be remembered but otherwise no one but Burnley fans will remember any of that or care.

It is a record for a 46 game season and I’d hazard a guess that it’ll be long time before it’s broken.

Can we just agree that Leeds were the best championship team this year with Burnley an incredibly close second?
The table doesn't record who beat who; it's a season where you amass points over 46 games and have a goal difference. The team with most points and a better goal season are Champions and rightly so.

The lack of a striker and all those 0-0 matches cost us the title. However, our incredible defence made us look much better. If we’d played as well as we have in recent games we would be miles ahead. Leeds deserve the title.

As someone else posted, they've had a lot of luck along the way, but the way they have chased results late on in games they made their own luck.
We've had a great season and I only feel sorry for the players, I'm not disappointed myself. We did everything we could over the last few weeks but it was sadly not in our hands.

I’m not sure we would. But we wouldn’t swap a good goalkeeper for a bad one so it’s a moot point.
