Be ironic if Spurs win the EL.

As expected I suppose, although the current England coach didn’t manage it last season.

Helps that Bayern squad value £750m when top 8 clubs are valued at over £150m Bayer nearest on £560m and bottom 3 less than £60m.

Good point, hadn’t thought of that. Hopefully triggers some success payments.

Well done to Kompany and Harry.

Don't see winning the Bundesliga with Bayern as a massive achievement to be honest, bit like winning the SPL with Celtic.
It's expected and should be won every year, it's theirs to lose.
Congratulations to him though he's still done it.
Unfortunately failed massively with his main task of champions league success though.

To be fair, I wouldn’t call reaching the quarter finals at his first attempt a massive failure. He progressed further than Pep and Slot, for instance - they were massive failures.

That’s where he’ll have to improve his CV though, I agree.

For him, Bayern is the perfect gig in that respect. He’ll get silverware and all the experience of chasing titles and winning silverware every year, with a decent team to test himself every season in the Champions League.

Depends if he keeps his job long enough, reports from Germany were that he was gone after the Celtic game if they went out and he managed to go through by a calamity last second goal maybe even an OG can't remember properly.
If they didn't get through that day I believe he was going to be sacked.
Bayern expected a good go at it this year isn't the final at the Allianz?
Another champions league campaign like this year and he will struggle to see the season out, the Bayern board expect the Bundesliga it's Europe they want

I might be wrong, but I don’t think the Bayern board would appoint a young manager with zero Champions League experience and expect him to immediately deliver the Champions League. They’d be a bit thick if they did, anyway. I think they’d be a bit thick if they did, anyway. If that’s what they wanted, they should’ve gone with a manager with a track record of success at that level - they had the money to go for who they liked as evidenced by our payoff which I think was second largest ever or something daft.

At least some of you will be able to do a giddy dance if he gets potted from Bayern.

There’s definitely big spurned boyfriend vibes from some Burnley fans about Kompany.

Fair play to him, Bayern should be winning the title with their squad, but there was a lot of pressure on them, given their failure last season and VK being a bit of a wildcard manager, so every credit.

I think I recall someone saying this nets us around £2/3m as well?

Well done to him. From the outside, it looks like he's kept things fairly stable in terms of the squad, which was his biggest error with Burnley last season, although I highly doubt he has anywhere near the level of control over Bayern that was handed to him at Burnley.

Who was available with that sort of experience though?
Maybe they didn't expect him to deliver it but they'd have expected a much better campaign they really struggled in the group stages which isn't good enough for Bayern.
I'm only going off what I heard a German reporter saying before the Celtic game on TV.
I don't think he'll get another season with a European campaign like this one anyway

I think when you’re Bayern you can make people available, although accept that Champions League winning managers are very rare generally and that summer Kompany did seem about 10th choice so maybe they didn’t choose him as such. But still, expecting much more than quarter finals from a complete novice would be a bit ridiculous.

Will be interesting to see what happens next. I wouldn’t listen too much to the press and my assumption is that they selected him with a view to developing with him but maybe they’re less patient than that. Either way, winning the league at Bayern will guarantee him another top job somewhere, as seems to be the way.

Personally I’d expect Bayern to be better next year after a year of drilling the system. Pep took a good while to get City dancing to his tune.

The best thing is that, now Harry has broken his trophy virginity, he can go on and score the winner for England in next year's World Cup!

!maximaler erfolg ist die Mindestanforderung! as Sean Dyche may have put on the wall were he managing in Germany!

I guess winning any league should be applauded even in a one / two horse race every year kind of League.

You can't see how they have any chance of winning the CL (which is what they aspire to) when you compare their squad to the other teams in Europe.

Aside from Kane and a couple of others it's miles off.

The difference with City and Bayern is that City are against very good opposition most weeks so testing themselves, Bayern only have 2/3 quality teams to practice on before European nights.
The only two Bayern could have gone for really are Pep(no chance) or Ancelotti(doubt he'd have left Real for Bayern) so they was stuck. They wanted Alonso without a doubt as you Kompany was about their 10th choice so I doubt they'd think twice about sacking him if the right man became available.
Alonso expected to leave Leverkusen for Real but I can imagine Bayern are putting the feelers out to see if they can persuade him
