That is crazy isn't it? And as stated all this in out rarely brings success.Of all those managers CT quotes who have managed us very few were sacked. From memory Buchan resigned Cavanagh left to have his hips done, Miller and Casper both stepped down, Mullen was sacked, Heath resigned, Waddle resigned (I think) Stan left, contract not renewed `Cotts sort of sacked, leaving by mutual consent I think, OC left, Laws sacked, Howe left, Sean sacked, Kompany left. Most managers seem to survive long enough here to leave rather than get sacked although a few I imagine left before being sacked

If one were to be pedantic, Simon Weaver at Harrogate has only been manager of a Football League Club since August 2020, after they won the National League play-off ... that would take him down to 4th, below Arteta at Arsenal, and just above Nigel Clough at Mansfield.

As you rightly point out, it doesn't half help your chances of longevity in the post if your Papa owns the Club !

They are always listed by how long they've been in the job though. Otherwise, both Brennan and Mellon would be below Parker too.

Mikel Arteta is Stan Kroenke's love child?

Cotterill tried his best to make it look like mutual consent by bizarrely turning up at the press conference but he was very much sacked.

He was asked to attend the press conference but it was weird. He’d clearly had a fall out with Flood. Both said it was mutual but it was definitely triggered by the club.

What was bizarre was Flood trying to get him back just over two years later on a short term contract.

Was that when we were in the Premier League, why didnt it happen? You'd have thought it would have been quite an easy deal to do

It was but hardly easy when he was asking him to tear up a long term deal elsewhere for two months back at Burnley

I thought Brian Laws was scraping the barrel and about as low as we could go but hearing we offered Cotterill a contract makes me think we got a lucky escape and Laws wasn't too bad after all.

Ah I was assuming he was put of work at the time.

I'd take Cotterill any day of the week over Laws. He's a proper football manager that understands the tactical and coaching aspects. I'm not sure Laws did, I very much got the feeling he was just winging it without much plan.

With players who wouldn't play for him

No doubt about that but It was probably the best thing that could happen. It meant Laws was out of the door quickly and Howe knew very quickly that a lot of the players needed to follow him out. If we'd stuck with that road we were on we wouldn't have had all the success we've had since.

Both were L1 / L2 managers who should have been nowhere near a Premier League job. Luckily we got Howe in to sort out the mess and rebuild the club followed by Dyche to work his miracles
