Scandalous

Having followed Sampdoria since 93, as my ‘other team,’ I’m a bit conflicted on this. Samp were relegated to Serie C (how the mighty fall) a fortnight ago, but Brescia’s financial woes (before today’s news), meant that a four point deduction would likely be applied and result in their relegation, thus moving Samp a place up the league and entering them into the end of season play-off game, which could see them survive.

That said, to see a great club like Brescia go into such financial turmoil, I wouldn’t rush that on any fans. I believe their owner is a certain Massimo Cellino!!

A million other examples in Italian football. It's a bit of a non-story in the context of Italian football. There are more clubs that have created a phoenix club and restarted down the pyramid than the original ones!!

The sooner that bubble bursts the better. It's just ludicrous sums of money. It doesn't show any signs of getting better unfortunately, and it's very weird how we've normalised the money involved.
