Thought it was jaffa so it beat me today. Went onto do quordle after that and only got 3 out of the 4 words. Bad Day but there's always tomorrow.

Tomorrow has become today and the first two words I always use gave me all five letters. Back winning again after yesterday's setback. Wonderful

I did, but I can understand the question.
In the end it was a matter of elimination of other letters, rather than seeing the word.

Me, but i guessed, I admit I didn’t know the word!!

Can you tell us the word or will it spoil it for others. I was just interested after comments made about not knowing it.

I got it in 4, knew the word although more familiar with it as a singular.

I got it in three.
I knew the word, the fact that I did Latin at school helped.

As today is another day, yesterdays word was ATRIA

I didn't get todays due to it having 2 of the same letter in it... only one popped up when I'd entered it (the last letter).

Shouldn't both of them show up? Should I be expected to guess the same letter twice even though it'd already hit the first time?

No, both don't show up. I guess if you put the letter in twice when guessing the word then it should show up twice.

My opening word is AISLE and got today's in 3 attempts. That Basil Fawlty feeling of 'I'm winning, for once I'm in front' overcame me.

Yes, it was only a few weeks ago. I don’t suppose they’ll use it again, but I’m still going to open with STARE.

My opening word AISLE was the word to be found about 3 or 4 months ago so not expecting it again.

STARE has been my opening word ever since I started playing.

I'm a relatively new recruit to this game (played 547) and I use SHARE, on the basis of
2 common vowels
3 fairly common consonants.
I include H there because (it seems to me without researching) a lot of 5 letter words start TH, SH, CH (or even WH) and quite a few end in the same letters or even GH.

I also got it in one once although I think when STARE cropped up I may've gone for SPARE before getting the answer.

Good fun for a few minutes each morning with a mug of tea after breakfast anyway.
