Interestingly the first time in 14 years that the two clubs have played against each other in a T20.

Match Report: Lowerhouse Take the Derby Bragging Rights – 3 Out of 3

Lowerhouse v Burnley – T20 Derby, 14 Years in the Making

Lowerhouse extended their recent derby dominance, making it three wins from three in 2025 and marking the return of T20 rivalry with Burnley in emphatic style. In the first T20 meeting between the sides in 14 years, House rose to the occasion with a dominant all-round display under Friday night skies.

With the bat, Lowerhouse looked composed and dangerous from the off. Francois Haasbroek gave the innings a sharp start with a classy 26, before Tom Walker fell for 6. The middle order shone with a pivotal 70-run partnership between Jonny Whitehead and Henri Cottam, who added an important 18 before falling. But it was Jonny Whitehead who anchored the innings superbly, carrying his bat with an outstanding 82 not out—making him the first Lowerhouse batter ever to do so in a T20 match.

Defending the total, the pace and precision of Tom Walker proved far too much for Burnley’s lower order. With the visitors needing 8 an over from the outset, pressure mounted quickly. Shaukat Ali turned the screw with two wickets in two balls, while Bharat Tripathi and Ockert Erasmus offered brief resistance with a modest stand.

But it was Walker again who broke through—twice in two balls—to seal the deal, ending with sensational figures of 5 for 15 from his four overs, the best ever T20 figures in Lowerhouse history. Burnley were bowled out for 106 with five balls remaining.

A memorable night at The Brooks, with bragging rights firmly staying at Lowerhouse.

Tbf, it was just a wind up because they had so many ex pros playing, who were Burnley lads. Burnley & Lowerhouse dont pay players, its one stance both clubs agree on.

Match Report: Ruthless House Storm Into Semi-Finals

Captain Ben Heap won the toss and had no hesitation in putting Walsden in to bat in this highly anticipated Quarter Final clash.

Lowerhouse’s opening bowlers, Tom Walker and Joey “Hawkey” Hawke, set the tone early, striking regularly to leave Walsden reeling. Both finished with three wickets apiece in a dominant spell that kept the visitors under constant pressure.

There was further drama as professional Dan Salpietro made his long-awaited return – and wasted no time making an impact. Brought on late to clean up the tail, he bowled just five deliveries but claimed three wickets, sealing a rapid collapse and finishing the innings in ruthless fashion. Walsden were all out for just 75.

In reply, Heap and Jonny Whitehead tore into the chase with aggression and class. The scoreboard rocketed to 48 without loss after just five overs, with Walsden’s bowlers unable to stem the tide.

Whitehead eventually fell with the score on 52, but there was no let-up. Heap continued to motor, ending unbeaten on 45, while Henri Cottam chipped in with a calm 12* to take Lowerhouse home with ease – the target reached in just 8.3 overs.

A clinical performance in all departments sends Lowerhouse marching into the semi-finals.
