Parking Co-Op Arena

I'm going to a show in Manchester at the new CO-OP Arena in a month or so. I plan on going over during the day, parking somewhere near the Arena then getting the tram into the city for food / drinks then tram back up to the Arena for the show and drive home from there.
The question is .... does anyone have any sneaky parking places? I'll be there hours before the show so hopefully it should be easy enough to park.

Travis Street M1 2PG just off St Andrew's Square. Best kept secret (until now). Just behind Piccadilly Station and a 20 minute walk down to the Coop or you can take the tram from Piccadilly. Was there on Saturday night to see Springsteen and £5 for up to 9 hours.

If you are going to be eating in the centre I’d be parking in the city centre and then taking the tram up.
We’ve been twice and parked at Ashton then got the tram. You could always do that, carry onto the city centre then tram it back to the arena. After the gig get the tram back to Ashton (it’ll be quieter than the city centre line). Parking at Ashton Moss is also free.

We went to see The Black Key, got there early and parked close and got out quickly. 2nd time we got there later and parked on a different car park and it took 90 minutes to leave the car park. They basically empty them 1 by 1.

I was there a couple of months since and used one of the parking apps and parked on somebody's driveway. Avoid the official car park, nightmare to get out.

Who you going to see? I'm watching Nine Inch Nails there in four weeks. Got parking on a driveway nearby. Off there next week for Tyler The Creator. 6 pounds to park at nearby Asda.

Last time I went (alright it was a midweek night) an Uber was £4. I honestly thought the minimum fare these days was at least a tenner!
Way back was a bit more expensive and had to walk for a bit (Pretty much to the fire station about a quarter of a mile away) to get to a pickup spot but yet again, better than the tram

I would advise you to get to the car park as soon as you can when they open them. They tend to fill the bays nearest to the exit first so the later you arrive the further away from the exit you park. When the event/show is over the car park empties from the the bays nearest the exits so you can get away pretty sharpish. We’ve been out within ten/fifteen minutes.

Crookedbillet, if you can find Crumpsall Tram Station, there is a car park for tram users. There is usually a space available. From Crumpsall, it is just 3 stops to Manchester Victoria.

I parked on Butler st. M4 7jd, about 15 mins walk. Anything before that is residential permits.

I parked last night at Asda, using the 'YourParkingSpace' app. Half a mile walk and more or less straight away after.

Its a strange one ASDA. The car park is undoubtably well placed, but sometimes (often) the time zones I'm after don't appear on the app.
I suppose it could be sold out.

We parked at Asda last weds for Bruce
£11 got out very quickly and in bed in simonstone at 11-30

An option is to park at the station in Bury and get the tram from there.

Just been given tickets for a concert in July and thought I might stay over.

Stopped at the Marriot next to Piccadilly station recently. Nice hotel with a fab breakfast!!

High chance you’d get stung with dynamic pricing charges coming away from arena though. I once got an Uber to Leeds festival which advertised it as £40 and it turned in to £96 due to dynamic pricing.

You can pre-book parking using JustPark or YourParkingSpace websites. You'll usually get it much cheaper if you do it in advance.

Went to see Nine Inch Nails on Tuesday. If anyone's planning on going to the co-op arena look out for Seat Unique tickets. They were the same price for that gig as standard tickets but you get access to a private bar and the view was fantastic - lower tier, just above standing seats. You can see the event from the bar. You can also order a more extensive menu of food to your seat which we didn't do. Some events are much more expensive compared to standard tickets but there's odd events which are the same or similar price to access this lounge.
For parking we went to ASDA but despite there being ample empty spaces the app said no spaces available. Maybe they allocate only so many spaces for long stay parking.
We ended up parking round the corner at the National Cycling Centre which was £12. Not cheap but not extortionate compared to official venue parking.

Anyone got any recommendations on where is a good place to be picked up with an easy getaway? Getting a lift after the gig and trying to find somewhere to meet

On Tuesday at least the retail park with the ASDA Eastlands, McDonalds and National Cycling Centre was very easy to get away from and gives whoever is picking up somewhere to park and wait. Took us about 5 minutes to get out of the car park and onto open road.
Might be better places that people are aware of but that worked well for us.

Yes. Fantastic in Manchester. First time I'd seen them. One of those bands I've wanted to see for many years and finally made it.

Last weekend I was fortunate to watch Pulp in the 02 in London on Friday night. The organisation was great, the viewing was superb and Pulp were on top form.
On Saturday I was in Manchester to watch a comedian (Jeff Dunham) at the 02. The organisation was terrible, directed to join massive queue's outside that moved very slowly (90 minutes before the show started), before they then ushered us back and forth to other entrances to get in - eventually getting in after 75 minutes. Once in, the seating was square to the stage (left hand side) so you could barely see the screen (single) that the comedian was visible on. The seating was very cramped, and not designed for tall people..... and on top of this the comedian was not that funny in our view.... consequently we were heading back into manchester for a few drinks after about 40 minutes of the show. It was not a great first experience of the arena, which didn't appear to be very modern at all, and below the, now pretty old, 02 arena in all areas.

No no, the O2 is the old Millenium Dome in London. Sorry, the 02 in Manchester should have read the Co-Op Live in manchester.
When you saw Springsteen, was there one screen or multiple? Were you standing or seated?

Seated, in the upper tier, I didn't take much notice of the screens, a big one above the stage I think.
I thought it all very modern
One night there was a massive queue, due to the time we arrived, but took about 15mins to get in and through security. I doubt there'd ever be a longer queue, it stretched back to the tram stop, then about 4 rows of zig zagging, all the time stewards saying which entrance each queue was for.
Afterwards plenty of signs and stewards, and we were back to the car and away within 15 mins.
Other than the price of refreshments I found it an excellent venue.

I just don't like the fact that in the majority of seats you have to crank your head at an angle to see the stage.
I always have kneck problems the following day.
