I heard that they were the opposition the other week and mentioned it on another thread. Would be a good opposition so let’s hope it’s true.

It was already mentioned last week some time on the thread about friendlies at which point the article was already written. Strange though there has been no announcement at Burnley.

AS Roma are playing at Evertons new stadium that day.

Let's hope there's no trouble in either Liverpool or Manchester, where their fans will fly into and stay.

Well that will cut the crowd at Turf by about 2000 if the House fans are to be believed

Haven't we been linked to a couple of lazio players as well. Possibly indication of a relationship building between the 2 clubs.

Just a shame it's at home. Cracking Tie. I have to say the reaction from some of our fans on twitter is disappointing. It looks to be from the younger generation from what I can tell so I have to remind myself that I'm pushing 40 and these little upstarts won't remember the side they'd assembled under Sven Goran Eriksson which was absolutely chock full of cult heros.

I am not on any socials but can imagine. Lazio are an absolute giant of a football club, and I wouldn't be surprised if they brought a very large following.

Young uns binning off Lazio because it's neither Milan side or The Old Lady, shows how entitled our Premier league fanbase is becoming.

Had this happened 16 years ago it would have been really significant news, and no doubt a sell out.

Lazio are absolutely massive. I am gutted that I am away on holiday closer to Lazio than Turf Moor that day, but this is a really good tie.

For those of us who grew up in that era watching Gazzetta Football Italia on channel 4 Lazio are a big club. Don't really blame the younger generation for not seeing it the same though. Serie A was by far the best league in the world back then.

AC Milan vs Leeds is being played in Dublin, I think.
Fiorentina are at Old Trafford. Not great with Roma also at Everton on the same afternoon.
And Italy is closed for those 2 middle weeks in August as it's their wakes weeks so plenty of fans could travel. Roma/Lazio derby is fierce and there was trouble in the city just recently before the derby.
As already mentioned, in Manchester or Liverpool it could potentially see some knobs in the days leading up to the game.

Not yet, I reckon they were saving this big news to tell the sponsors/corporate lot at the fixtures breakfast.

They like to look after them with news from the club before it gets out.
