It says we got a £49m parachute payment last season. I was under the impression that PP only start getting paid if you are unsuccessful in promotion in Y1 post relegation?
I've heard that but I think it's a myth.mybloodisclaret wrote: ↑Fri Jun 20, 2025 1:10 pmIt says we got a £49m parachute payment last season. I was under the impression that PP only start getting paid if you are unsuccessful in promotion in Y1 post relegation?
Very much a myth perpetuated in the main by Burnley fans - perhaps a confusion with the fact that as a result of promotion we will not get the year 2 Parachute Payment - that will be distributed evenly between the 20 Premier League clubsClaretfanatic1982 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 20, 2025 1:20 pmI've heard that but I think it's a myth.
All relegated clubs receive the first parachute payment. If they get promoted at the first time of asking, the subsequent parachute payments are not received and go back to the Premier league.
If what you are saying was the case , we would have been in a situation the season just gone without any money at all. We wouldn't have been able to pay the wages etc .
Has the football league ever pushed for it to be split throughout the Championship and below? The gap gets bigger all the time so it seems odd that the entire PL should benefit from a club bouncing straight back up. Surely that just widens the gap even more?Chester Perry wrote: ↑Fri Jun 20, 2025 1:25 pmVery much a myth perpetuated in the main by Burnley fans - perhaps a confusion with the fact that as a result of promotion we will not get the year 2 Parachute Payment - that will be distributed evenly between the 20 Premier League clubs
The EFL have been trying for years - Rick Parry has been the most vociferous on the subjectFretters wrote: ↑Fri Jun 20, 2025 10:36 pmHas the football league ever pushed for it to be split throughout the Championship and below?
