Someone has just emailed me asking this question - only one player here prior to the takeover and only two left from the Dyche era.

The five are

Josh Brownhill
Connor Roberts
Josh Cullen
Manuel Benson
Darko Churlinov

Does Ash Barnes not count as he had a break in Norwich?

No, he’s down near the bottom now.

What about the longest serving ever, Tony? Brian Miller?

I’d have there might have been longer than Brian. I’m not sure when his playing career ended officially but his last game was at Villa in 1967 where he suffered his career ending ACL injury.

That list could be whittled down to just Roberts and Cullen by the end of the window …

Jerry Dawson for 21 years has to be near the top of the list.

If so, the next few on the list are Jordan Beyer, Hjalmar Ekdal, Lyle Foster & Michael Obafemi.

Outfield players possibly John Angus 15 years
Jimmy Mac was probably playing for us longer than Brian Miller

I suppose there are two types.Longest playing career with us and time from signing to leaving us.

But has to be as a player - Miller will be longer than Jimmy ma but so will John Angus, Tommy Cummings & Jimmy Adamson from the title winning team.

I didn't realise he suffered that injury. Definitely career-ending in the '60s.

It was on the Saturday after the Eintracht Frankfurt defeat, first half at Villa. No one ever mentioned ACL back then but it’s what finished Brian and Frank Casper.

I was at that Frankfurt defeat. Brian gave one of their players a little roughing up behind the deadball line in the goal. Really near the end. I didn't realise he only played one more game. And we all know who was responsibe for Frank's career-ending injury.

Burnley through and through was Brian. He continued to go to the home games until not long before he passed away.

Am I right in thinking that Brian scored both of our goals in the defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt? Went to the 2nd leg and sure he scored in that one.

He did score both and was the only player at that time to have played in all 12 of our European games.

That was my first ever game watching us-I clearly remember him being stretchered off. Think we relegated Villa that day

Yeah I reckon he should come before Benson
I dont think it counts as an academy signing. But he played a 1st team game before Benson was signed I think

You are spot on with that one Luppy and also Owen Dodgson. I hadn’t considered them either them not on the squad list.

They both go after Brownhill but before Roberts.
