I'll say it, the two young interviewers the club have are abysmal.

They fired Simon Crabtree I believe. He used to do all the new signing interviews. I gave up on this one.

The issue I have is they aren't just first timers anymore, but this is probably the start of their 4th season now. The official interviews with players are so drab, and that comes down to the questions and how they are asked.

Excited by this one. He looks a unit. And £4m is a decent fee by our standards, would this make him our third highest fee for a keeper?

Certainly doesn’t come across as an arrogant pri*k he’s been made out to be by that one German fan, happy to give him the benefit of the doubt.
I expect he’ll be No2 for us this season but the fact we paid €5m euros shows we hold him in very high regard.
Looking forward to another crazy transfer season under Alan Pace

they are a bumbling mess. I'm sure some will think i'm being mean but if you are operating on the world stage then we need way better.

Agreed. It basically consists of:
How excited are you to be here?
How excited are you about the Premier League?
How excited are you about playing for Scott Parker?
How excited were you to make your professional debut?
How excited are you about playing with the current squad?
Just off the top of my head any of the following would be better and more insightful:
What do you know about Burnley FC?
Is there a particular player you model your game on?
How do you think football in England differs to Germany?
What would you say is your strongest attribute? (Maybe they asked this to be fair, can't remember)
What's one thing you learned that was particularly valuable in your time at Karlsruher?
Maybe some of them would be a bit more challenging to answer but it'd make for a more interesting interview.

Simon Crabtree was absolutely awful to, I remember him asking datro fofana if he knew which player had wore the number 23 before him, like fofana would know it was Nathan Tella.

I think had it been a big signing then it might have been different with more thought on the signing. But this is not just a young lass, she’s the club’s communications manager.
As for the signing, I think it means Trafford could be more likely to stay. He’s obviously highly rated and I assume signed on the recommendation of our goalkeeping coach who will know him from German football.
He’s not going to be ready to play in the Premier League I wouldn’t have thought so I’m thinking Trafford might still be here with Weiß gaining experience to eventually replace him.

I don't know anything about him but we seem to have a decent enough record when it comes to signing young players in recent times.
I trust that the club learned a lesson from Trafford two years ago though and he's not to be the number one goalkeeper for this coming season. If so, it will be nice to have Trafford's eventual successor already at the club.

This is just off the top of my head in a couple of minutes. The idea being that probably, with a bit of effort, the club could do a bit better in the player interview department.

The interviewers standard list of questions...
How do feel about joining Burnley?
What do think of the training facilities?
What do think of the manager?
Have you had a Bene Hot yet?
Well maybe not that last one.....

Thing is, william, Max has already signed for the club. So, this interview is just introducing him to the fans, it's not a job interview.

In terms of using the term "in terms of" she's managed 8 in 6 minutes. not a bad standard at all.

For the record Max knows Burnley have recently been promoted to the PL and will be in a better position to appreciate the difference between English and German football once he's actually played in England. He appreciates things being kept as simple and straightforward as possible for him, at least until he finds his feet.

Is asking a football player on some potential differences he sees between the German and English game solely a job interview question? Likewise for asking there's someone they particularly look up to or model their game on. The latter is not particularly uncommon to ask - I hear it asked of young players entering the NFL, for example.
To be fair, it's this kind of thinking that probably led to the half-arsed questions that are currently being asked! It's okay to think outside the box. Many players and coaches would probably enjoy not having to answer the same questions repeatedly too.

I could have told you some differences between English and German football as a kid just from having watched a bit of both. It's not a particularly complicated or controversial question for a professional footballer to have to contend with, although I appreciate he's not answering in his native language which could make it more challenging.

To be fair there's nothing wrong with your questions in another scenario but not this. There are other inappropriate and irrelevant observations that have been made in relation to the interviewer who if it is correct, will have other duties and a greater insight as to what is required in football communications than those that have made them.
Welcome and the best of luck to Max

I don't think any one would be impressed if a new signing coming from a different league was able to make the same comparisons "as a kid just from watching a bit of both.." I'd expect a young pro developing his career in one league would spend most of his time developing his career. Maybe once their career is established they can start making comparisons between leagues. Even then the most important point of comparison or difference for a young pro will be how much can I expect to be paid.

The interview was poor, amateurish and not to the standard I expect from a top level club. Mind you, it's not much different from the rubbish delivered from the journos at manager press conferences. Maybe that's where she gets her lead from. Surely it wouldn't cost the club much to have someone trained to do this properly and not just call up someone from the back office. It's not just the content either, - the weak, thin voice adds to the amateur appearance and that's where it should start. Get someone with a firm authoritative presentation (I don't care about accents) that people with hearing difficulties don't have trouble with, and go from there. There might be someone among the club staff (male or female) who is a member of a local dramatic society, for example, who would fit that standard.

We’re signing a promising young keeper and people are whining that his introductory interview might have been naff. Peak UTC.
Reminds me of George Michael’s reaction to getting harangued by Paul Weller at Band Aid.

If the footballers are good and in-house interviews are a bit naff, I’ll live.
I’m not sure what the scouts have to do with our media team. Bit of a stretch. Anyway…..
Welcome to this lad. He appears to be highly regarded and is still very young for a GK. Hopefully he can make the step up if required.

I completely get why people are annoyed by the interviewer. It’s the first time you get to see the player and get an idea of what he’s about. I haven’t seen it yet but if it’s the same person that’s been going for a while then I’ve no doubt it will be woeful. I love the “how did it feel questions”.
Hopefully Trafford will be staying then. Can see Hladky moving on.

Think this is a decent signing.
I also thought the interviewer didn’t distinguish herself and came across as amateurish.
Seems a decent enough lass. Shame the club can’t give her a bit of training, especially as she’s not new to the job, and we are back in the big time.
