On the transfer thread. We’ve got zero chance of signing him.

No but they have a habit of signing players who aren’t good enough for Arsenal so he might fit in.

Not saying he starts for Arsenal but as an option off the bench or for the cup games it probably makes a bit of sense

educated guess, both looking for strikers both first team and for the bench.

Yeah I’m sure Arsenal or Man Utd will be signing an injury prone player who can’t score goals, like Utd don’t have enough of those.

Doesn't feel particularly educated. But I'll hold my hands up if it plays out the way you have said with confidence that it will. Just because his contract has expired doesn’t mean there isn't a big pool of more talented and available forwards that Arsenal and Man United can recruit from.

I agree I think they'll have their sights set on other targets. He's not a bad player when fit the problem is he never seems to be fit for long.

We will see let’s face it he could end up anywhere but I wouldn’t be surprised if he ended up at United in particular

He’s dreadful. I remember standing by that at the time he had a purple patch. Pretty sure it was during Covid behind closed doors.
Vastly overrated. And never fit.
He will get a good deal on his supposed reputation. But I wouldn’t go near him.

Little to suggest that in the last few years. He's been at Everton for nine seasons and had just two good seasons around the time he was selected for England. Irrespective of all that, his injury is such that it can't be ignored.

It's not just 1 injury that should be ignored he's 1 of them players you are just waiting for the next 1 & a lengthy 1 at that. For love nor money whether he's just unfortunate or constantly suspectible to injuries not many things in life can be more certain than him becoming crocked again.

Nine years since Everton signed him and he's scored 57 league goals for them. Over half of them came in two seasons, 2019/20 & 2020/21.

I definitely did miss the word record in my response. The impression interpreted was a singular injury & nothing plural.

When our only recognised number nines are Ashley Barnes and Lyle Foster some posters are saying 'I wouldn't go anywhere near him'....sigh.

I was clarifying that I missed the word record. Anyhow it's pedantic and doesn't alter the central point.

DCC is injury prone, has only had 1-2 good seasons in his career and that's about it
There's a talented player in there, we all know it, but he's made of glass
Why spaff big wages on him when we don't know how many games he'd be fit for?

I presume those who think that are also expecting us to sign a forward or forwards. There's no way we should take the risk if indeed he was a realistic target.

Every day's a school day. I always thought he had come through the youth system at Everton. Had to check wiki to see he was signed from Sheff United.

Sadly both are injury prone, so its a NO to DCL. Better chasing someone like Ferguson at Brighton

Nothing wrong with a calculated gamble but in all probability DCL would expect top dollar & better value elsewhere.

If Pedro leaves Brighton amongst the interest in him, I could see Brighton going in for him on a FREE. They love that degree of experience amongst their team ie Milner, Wellbeck, Lallana. All have had good spells there

We shouldn't be bothered let him become somebody else's problem. It's not a sustainable viable option for any new promoted club such as ourselves to be entertaining.

Spot on. I’ve heard he has no real interest in playing football these days. Maybe he did earlier in his career.

I watched an interview with him last week. He said he'd had some problems but he was in the best place he has ever been now both mentally and physically. If someone takes a chance on him and he does stay fit they have a decent player who will score more with a run of games. Anyone saying he is rubbish aren't saying much about our players as he would probably be the best player in the squad.

Well he would say that he's hardly likely to say I'm done & completely injury knackered he's without a club he's got to promote himself the best way he can. Logically moving forwards people will look at what he's recently contributed & ascertain the present picture. The general consensus is he his a good player but never fit enough on a consistent basis despite what he thinks or what he has to say. The facts are laid bare.

12 goals in his last 75 premier league appearances. I think we have as good as that on the books already.
