Audacity help needed?

Hoping there are forum members experienced with Audacity, the music editing app.
I am recording a French Linguaphone course from cassette onto the pc. It is recording at standard speed, coming through the speakers, but when I save and playback it is at double or treble speed. Probably a very simple playback problem but beyond my knowledge.
Cheers.

That's pretty strange.

I was using Audacity this morning with no issues.

I'll see if I can spot anything in the settings.

I think a new version came out this week, you could try updating?

Haven’t used it for some time and did the update before I started. Thx.

This is all I have under playback. Can you be more specific? Cheers

This is the playback speed. It's in the main window.
No idea if this is your problem, just thought I'd try and help you save time finding it. Hope it helps

Are you playing it back on Audacity or something else. If audacity try something else and vice versa.

It does make you wonder if it's a marker in the uploaded file?

Thanks for that. It plays in that box at 1.000, which is default and far to fast. I play it at 0.801 and it is slightly slow but the voice is weird. Can’t seem to save that as default but will either have to adjust every time I listen or just play it through my tape convertor every time.
Only through our last tape player out two weeks ago because the CD player on it was knackered. C’est la vie.

Sounds like a warp or sync button is turned on somewhere. My advice would be delete the app and reinstall. They are bugged a lot of them. Also check out what format you’re extracting. WAV tends to be better than mp3 in my experience , if you’re sending it to a specific location or iTunes then that will also need to be updated. Loads of **** that can cause issues

Thx. I think doing the update screwed it for me. After there was no “save as” button, just save to cloud or export audio(which I used).
I have it on a mini disc that came with the device so I’ll take your advice and re-install.
When I exported it the save box defaulted to .WAV and I changed to mp3 so in future I’ll leave it alone.

Re-install works perfect. Thanks again, I never should have bothered with the update. It did everything that I needed anyway.
