Here are your runners and riders. As it says at the top bib numbers could change.
10 Brits out there including Oscar Onley as team leader for Team Picnic PostNL, both Yates brothers as support riders and Geraint Thomas in his 18th and final TdF.
Let’s hope the favourites stay upright and week get a great 3 weeks.

2020 edition was cancelled due to Covid then Welcome to Yorkshire, who organised it went bust. Someone bought the rights to the race but for whatever reason haven't been able to get it on.

Fantastic three weeks of sport!

Pog the clear favourite but will be chased down by Vingegaard and Evenepoel.

Team Visma for me, although due to working in a school with a huge Eritrean intake, I’ll be giving Biniam Girmay my full support too. He’s absolutely huge in Eritrea.

It will be strange not seeing the Manx Missile. Shame Chris Froome had that nasty accident as I enjoyed watching him. Let’s hope the Yates brothers grab a stage or two.

Make the most of it on Free to View watching on TV, following Eurosport disappearance and move to the TNT platform this will be the last year it will be anywhere without a subscription (ITV4).

A lot of cycling fans are very unhappy at going from being able to watch on Eurosport to having to pay a £30.99 per month subscription to watch on TNT Sports.

Many believe they are paying for in the main a football subscription, so paying a fee (smaller) would be acceptable for a dedicated cycling channel.

if you add the times from the last four tours in total (minus bonus seconds) then Vingegaard is ahead of Pogacar by just 3 seconds - over 14,000km or so which is bonkers really (Pog is ahead by 1m 23sec with time bonuses)

The last truly big sports event in world sport I have not given up on

I love cycling. I love going out for long rides. On Monday I rode from Boston Spa, round York, up Helmsley, down the Sutton bank back road (scary) and back home. 100 miles. I love it!

But…….i can’t get into watching cycling on tv.

It’s a bit like test cricket. All day of a job. You can tell how uninteresting it is by the fact that the commentators spend half the time talking about the marvellous chateau the helicopter camera is focused on. I’m even less interested now no brits are going to win.

I sure I would enjoy going to france and cycling the route the day before and then spending the day getting pi55ed and screaming at some Colombian climber half way up a mountain

Even as a big fan, it's hard to disagree with that. There are some long periods of nothing much happening.

So far it’s pi55ing it down, and now they are playing ‘it’s only just begun’ by the carpenters, for some reason. The song reminds me of happy Gilmore.

This stage won't be any good until some of the decent hill riders try to get away. I'd go away and tune back in in about 2 hours time

Read Luke Rowes book, David Millars, and Lances. There’s absolutely loads going on in the peloton and all times.

The daily 1 hour highlights shows are unmissable TV in our house (away this week so hoping they are being recorded) but to watch the whole day on tv is dire, only surpassed by going out onto the roadside to watch it live.

The daily 1 hour show is actually 45 minutes with talking before and after the action. They often miss the key action. Being retired I regularly take in the whole day but always record the whole day and try to watch the last two hours. Apart from the views it can be boring but it is still tactical and, as on day 1, you never know when a cross wind will break the peleton up and cause mayhem.

What had been a slow motion stage has a shocker. Philipsen, in green jersey, out after terrible accident in intermediate sprint. Taken out by Coquard after Coquard was shouldered sideways into him.

Correct. TNT on PPV in the future. The UK has certain events, Cup Final, Wimbledon, etc., that have to be on free to air. I’m surprised the French government hasn’t done similar.

ASO milk the tour dry…

I am all for firewall cycling. There is so little money in the sport that it’s all siphoned into the big show stoppers.

The ladies and the domestic crit scene need investment to survive and inspire the next generation. If you want to Ottley or Ilkley last week you’d have seen two outstanding crit races!

You can watch racing all over, UCLAN and Lancaster have good racing to watch all for free!

Pleased for you jdr. Having just watched a 6 minute commercial/trailer break followed by 3 minutes of cycling followed by another 4 minutes of crappy low budget commercials I find it barely watchable. If that's the price of it being on terrestrial tv then I'm out.
I'll just suck it up and pay next year.

tomorrow should finally see that no time bonuses gap between the main two protagonists change though there is still a long way to go

speaking of which - it will be interesting to see how Vingegaard fares on the long climbs at the end of the tour given his developed punchiness on these short and very sharp climbs

It was Vin who impressed me most of all in today's brilliant stage...and I suspect he's happy for Pog to be in yellow and have his team defending the jersey over the coming stages. The race needs a genuine rival to Pog, so let's just hope Vin can provide that beyond the first mountain stage.

Coverage thankfully improved for the last 15k tbf.

As mentioned by Robbie MacEwan on TNT, what was wrong with Vingegaards bike? He was slithering and sliding on his saddle, making his upper body rock n roll. Nothing like his normal TT position. Strange for a team that usually has everything just pat. He looked like he’d leased-a-bike.
