I asked this question yesterday but didn't get a reply. Try again:

Is 'House player Joey Hawke any relation to former Nelson and East Lancs pro Neil Hawke?

Neil Hawke is Austrailian, Joey Hawke is a local lad who, I believe started at Padiham,so the answer to your question is probably no.

Thanks for the reply. Hawke is quite an unusual surname and I’m aware Neil was an Aussie and Joey is local. Possibly Neil had a few ‘dalliances’ while living in the general area and somewhere down the line produced a ‘Joey’ :D

No. (Well almost certainly no). His dad was an extremely good player and firefighter from Rawtenstall.

Interestingly enough DL gave you a larger total to chase than what Rawtenstall actually got..

Rishton 138 for 5 young Keith Roscoe removing the Rishton pro on 49.

It takes into account Rawtenstall had onlyost 3 wickets and if they'd have got the full 50 overs in, would have highly likely scored quite a few more than what they got.

I think it's also based on the fact that it's seen as an advantage that Rishton knows how many overs they will get to pace their run chase, whilst Rawtenstall batting first didn't..

Second Eleven v Greenmount (Home)

The Second Eleven entertained Greenmount at home and, after losing the toss, were put in to bat. Runs were hard to come by as the visitors’ attack bowled with discipline, but Keagan De Vries stood firm to top score with 46. The innings closed on 139 all out in 38 overs, but not without controversy.

In reply, Greenmount looked to be cruising early on, but House’s bowlers showed real determination to drag the game deep. Keagan De Vries completed an excellent all-round performance, taking 4 for 29 off 10.4 overs as the pressure ramped up on the visitors’ lower order. Despite the fightback, Greenmount reached the target eight down in the 36th over.

Despite the narrow defeat, House remain 27 points clear at the top of the table.

First Eleven v Darwen (Away)

The First Eleven travelled to Darwen, where the hosts won the toss and sent House in to bat. The top seven all got starts, each reaching double figures, but nobody was able to push on past 50 in a gritty team effort. Jonny Whitehead led the way with 45 as House posted a competitive 212 for 8 from their 50 overs.

With the ball, Tom Walker made an immediate impact, striking with the very first delivery to set the tone. Joey Hawke followed up with a superb spell of 0 for 15 off 7 overs, building pressure. At the halfway mark, Darwen were well-placed at 102 for 3, but key wickets from Toxy Hussain — whose golden arm struck again — and pro Dan Salpietro shifted momentum back House’s way.

Dan’s injury forced him off the field, but in came the “best sub fielder ever” Charlie Cottam — he didn’t have to do much, but his reputation alone lifted spirits! Steady wickets fell, and with Darwen needing to accelerate, pressure told. Ben Heap produced an outrageous run out to claim the ninth wicket, and House wrapped up the win by bowling Darwen out for 160.

A full 12 points secured, and with results elsewhere going our way, House extend the gap at the top to 26 points.

They've at least a couple of ex pros in their ranks these days besides the actual pro. Maybe they're trying to mimick another (unnamed!) club! 🙂
