Lowerhouse take on Ramsbottom at home in the T20 quarter final Friday. Weather looks beautiful. Should be a cracking night.

On Sunday we take on Norden at home in the league looking to keep up the good run.

We have Sumit Ruikar as pro on Friday night and Cole McConchie Sunday.

House Blast into T20 Finals Day After Crushing Ramsbottom

On a sweltering Friday night at the Brooks Foundation Ground, Lowerhouse faced Ramsbottom in the JW Lees T20 Quarter Final — and delivered a performance full of fire and flair to book their place in Finals Day.

Ramsbottom won the toss and elected to bat first, but were kept in check throughout by a disciplined House bowling unit. They finished on 127 for 5 from their 20 overs. Paddy Martin led the attack with two wickets, while Charlie Gansler, Toxy Hussain and sub pro Cole McConchie each picked up one apiece.

Lowerhouse’s reply started with early drama as Jonny Whitehead was dismissed on the fourth ball. But that was as good as it got for the visitors.

Ben Heap and McConchie took charge immediately — racing to 33 for 1 after just 3 overs. Heap was in explosive form, smashing 17 from his first 4 balls after not facing any in the first two overs. The momentum kept building as House powered to 61 for 1 at the end of the 6-over powerplay.

Ben was eventually caught in the deep for a blistering 40 off just 18 balls. But there was no let-up as Tom Walker strode to the crease and kept the pressure firmly on the Ramsbottom bowlers. By the halfway stage, Lowerhouse were cruising at 96 for 2.

From there, it was a formality. Walker finished unbeaten on a superb 46 from 25 balls, while Cole McConchie anchored the chase with 47 not out from 32. Lowerhouse sealed the win with a dominant 6.4 overs to spare.

🏆 T20 Finals Day will take place at Littleborough on Saturday 26th July — more details to follow…

A side note, Keith Roscoe has taken the first 5 Church wickets today ( including the Pro ), for Rawtenstall. A fine performance for the young man, you might think ... except that he's 63, and made his Lancashire League debut in 1979 ... :o

Match Report

A poxy little write-up doesn’t do this justice — this one needs recording properly!

Records tumbled at The Brooks Foundation Ground in what will go down as one of the greatest days in Lowerhouse history.

Ben Heap and Jonny Whitehead opened the batting and put on 245 for the first wicket, the second-highest partnership in Lowerhouse history. It also marked the first time two Lowerhouse batters have scored centuries in the same Lancashire League innings. Jonny eventually fell for 101, while Ben went on to smash his highest score for the club — 179 — just falling short of the club record. Ben also passed 500 Lancashire League runs for the season.

Lowerhouse posted a club-record score of 396 for 7.

In reply, Norden came out swinging and raced to 70/0 off 7 overs. But Tom Walker made the breakthrough at 90/1, with Jonny Whitehead taking a smart catch at slip. Walker and Sub Pro Sumit Ruikar then tore through the top order, reducing Norden to 129 for 7. Sumit finished with outstanding figures of 6 for 33.

Lowerhouse bowled out Norden for 145, setting another club record — the largest ever winning margin by runs: 251 runs.

The Firsts will be 28 points clear when the rest of the results come in.

Second XI at Enfield

Dec Stansfield won the toss and bowled first. Enfield were dismissed for 146 in 34.4 overs, with Shaukat Ali leading the attack, claiming 4 for 43.

Lowerhouse chased down the target comfortably in 32.1 overs with skipper Declan Stansfield top scoring with exactly 50.

The seconds sit pretty at the top of the table, 34 points clear.
