Beyer and Ramsey

Appear to be taking full part going off the training pictures, a full pre season and won't be too far behind the other's, yes granted they've both spent a long time on the sidelines, but be like 2 new signings if they can stay fit..

I’d expect Ramsey to be way ahead of Beyer, as he was involved towards the end of the season

I’d like to see what a fully fit Beyer could do under Parker.

Ramsey was playing with the under 21's towards the end of last season.
I went to one of the games which was played on the Turf, Ramsey started alongside Tresor against Brentford.

I recall it was around 60 odd minutes.

He looked miles off being a Premier League player last time. He looked miles off Brownhill’s level and he is questioned at the higher level. Coming back from a long injury doesn’t make him a much better player it’s just wishful thinking. Over time he may develop into an improved player whether that’s at Premier League level or not.

To be fair that Prem season under VK made a lot of decent players look shide.
I was a Kompany fan but that season was a **** show on and off the pitch!

He was excellent for Boro. Like Trafford, he was thrown to the wolves by VK. There’s obviously a reason why we paid big money for him.

From game 1 we were poorly set up

If you’d watched Trafford in the VK relegation season, you wouldn’t go anywhere near him. Chucked under the bus in the first game, and never really recovered.
Turns out, he’s Englands next No 1.
Ramsey will get a chance, and I fancy him to take it. He’s a good player, I just hope his bad injury doesn’t psychologically affect him.

Maybe this thread should serve as a well-needed reminder to posters on here that speculating about a player's health/ fitness/ well-being is a sh1t thing to do, and often turns out to be plain wrong. A few weeks back experts on here were telling us that Beyer wouldn't kick a ball again based on nothing, clearly.
Great to have both of them back in full training and hopefully they'll be around the first team again this season. I'm delighted for them both.

He wasn’t. His big weakness was dealing with crosses into the box, and he wasn’t helped by the way the team set up and defended. But his shot stopping was at a good level all season.

That thread was laughable, similar to the Alan Pace converstaion about Tresor bandied around on here as Gospel.
Beyer has a limp = career finished.
Just proves how dangerous a brain fart can be when its put in writing.
Sadly it not only sums up this board but social media in general and the world we now live in.

Exactly. I've always thought that's how young players get there chance.
They are thrown into the team sometimes and it's a case of sink or swim.
You will never know how those players will perform at our first team level until you "throw" them into the team.

I don't expect either to feature until at least the second half of the season. Coming straight back into the PL after such huge lay-offs is incredible unlikely, and could trigger further injuries. A couple of loan deals, similar to Ekdal last season, would make sense. Get them back on the pitch regularly and building up match fitness. They're both young enough to be able to slowly build themselves back up again.

My feeling is that Ramsey won't be going anywhere and will be in and around the first team squad, especially since he returned to first team action just ahead of last season finishing. Beyer I suspect is rather further away and if he is fit enough now, he'll go somewhere decent for 6 months to get back into it. We'll see!

Whether Beyer's fit enough or not, for me he just isn't quick enough for the PL from what we saw of him.
And the long layoff won't exactly have improved things.

Disagree re him being goof enough. The VK set up hung the back 4+ Trafford out to dry. Beyer is a very good footballer. Would make a very good cd midfielder imo.

Not sure how Ramsey's poor performances were Kompany's fault.
If anything he was in a system that should have been perfect for him.
He was excellent in one game when he first came in to the team then just got gradually worse.

Definitely Kompany's fault, he persisted in flogging him while injured, wasn't really fit when he came to us imo, hadn't been with us long before he had strapping to he's knee, it was plain to see he was carrying something, yet kompany persisted, until the inevitable imo.

B*llocks. Most players have played through injury at some point (if that was even the case) it doesn't mean they have to give the ball away in terrible areas consistently.
He was weak physically, increasingly poor technically and looked absolutely miles off being a Premier league player mentally, he was like a lost kid. It was Kompanys fault in the sense of giving him game time when he wasn't up to it. He needed a loan.

Reason I put them both in the same thread is because they've had what could be said as similar injuries and are a similar time in their rehab /recovery etc, but quite agree re EH and MT. Not a dig, just offering an explanation.

Why wouldn't Ramsey feature until the second half of the season? He played at QPR in the penultimate game of last season.

2 weeks until our first pre season game is it? We should know more then. If Beyer is anywhere near the player he was then he would fit in perfectly.
Hartmann Esteve beyer Walker

Beyer is one I know some posters think isn't good enough for the premier league. But he played 15 times when we were set up terribly.
And I've still not seen a CB destroy the championship like Beyer did in our promotion season. Obviously no one knows if he can recover fully from his injury, but he is a player. Might not have shown it at the top level yet, but he's got the ability.

A fully fit Beyer with Esteve would be incredible. I really really hope he keeps fit and gets back to what we know he can do. He’s so cultured on the ball and reads the game well.

Agree on Beyer. He got away with being a right- footed LCB in the Championship but got found out in the Prem. Playing RCB alongside Steve I think would be a strong pairing in the PL - assuming he is fully fit.

I have said it before and I will say it again. Beyer and Steve will Never be a back 2. They are too similar. You can't have 2 marauding CBs together. The only way they should play together is as part of a 3 with an old fashioned "proper defender" of a CB. Such as Ben Mee (could Tuanzebe be this player?)
IF we can get the Beyer back that we saw in the championship then we have a ridiculous wealth of talent at CB for a club our size.
