Looking trim in a video released by the club today.
I’d love to see him come good.

So would I. There have been glimpses…. But we’ve been waiting quite a long time now for a sustained period of satisfactory performances.
He’s played well without scoring a few times, but he’s been here some time….

Me too. He lacks that natural striker's instinct, I don't think he'll ever be prolific. But I do think he can be an effective forward who can cause the opposition a lot of headaches.
We have so many wingers, I doubt he'll be played wide again. So it's up top or bench I imagine. If he's up top we need a goalscorer in the 10 position. Flemming or Amdouni as opposed to Hannibal.
Anyway I digress, here's hoping he stays fit and mentally well.

We all want to see him come good….but it’s more to do with his ability than how lean he looks.

Lyle came back at the start of the PL season looking very lean and in his first 7 games got 3 goals and 2 assists. I’d add that it should have been 4 goals (Forest away ridiculous disallowed goal) and 3 assists (Koleosho’s open net at Brentford was voted worst miss of the entire PL season). So 7 games and *nearly* 7 goal contributions. I’ll be very happy if one of our players can match that rate this season.

He didn’t get many goals last term, but his all round play was nowhere near as bad as is made out on here sometimes.

Might be completely wrong so don’t come for me but does anyone else think Foster could end up being like Joelinton at Newcastle. Signed as a striker but with attributes to be successful deeper? I’m think the Vitinho goal at Luton first game of last season were he won the ball back in our box and drove with pace and power to set Vitinho up

I know you make your own luck but that night at Forest set him back big time. Totally unfair too.

You mean when he misplaced a simple pass on the halfway line, gifting it straight to the opposition leading to him having to sprint back to prevent a likely goal? That goal did highlight his main strength though which is running powerfully with the ball in a straight line.
I don’t think Foster has any of the attributes required to play the ‘Joelinton role’.

Well he isn’t a strong passer, doesn’t have a good touch and lacks stamina, so no!

Joelington is an absolute beast of an athlete as well as having brilliant positioning, good awareness, and a tidy first touch. Granted I've probably only seen him about 10 times, but that's what stood out.
Foster does have it in his locker to be a threat running from deep, but I think that's where the similarities end. I don't think he has the positional sense, athleticism or touch to be a CM

Foster is a confidence player. Clearly troubled with mental health issues. There’s a player inside there. He’s got all the attributes. I really think he’s good at coming deep and driving at opposing teams. It’s all how parker wants to play next season. We’ve got some very good options

I have not written him off as he is so different to everyone else in the squad, and I firmly believe he is a better PL player than Championship. Remember going to Forest to see us in the League Cup in an early round. Both him and Amdouini were subs, but came on in the second half and terrorised the Forest defence..We won 2-1 I thinkThat was followed by a handful of great performances then it just did not kick on again. Would like to see if him and Amdouini play in a couple of friendlies together how they perform. I am also intrigued to see if Amdouini stays or not.

Foster is in a very positive environment now. I can't see Parker screaming at lads like VK did so it's up to Lyle now. I think it's a good season or bust for him tbh, hopefully it's the former.

I keep hearing this argument about him being better equipped for the PL than the Championship, and I just don't buy it.
I can't think of a single player for us who has looked better in the top league than the second tier, and we're a pretty good example of a club to look at in that respect, as we've yo-yoed quite regularly.

I thought he was one of the only ones who looked comfortable at that level he stepped up a level and never looked out of place unlike the rest . Great player.

He's had long enough and he's still absolute shite.
If we're starting with him as our lone forward in the upcoming season, then we have real problems.
In fact it's f***ing boring talking about him.

Agreed, but I wouldn't say he was better suited to PL level than the Championship, which was my point to warksclaret.
Elliott had skill, but he was as much of a battler as anything else, which probably best suited the Championship.

He’s got all the physical attributes required however he’s too unreliable and we have never had a run of games form him to really determine his quality.
Stop start football rarely gives you a true showcase of one’s ability. Unfortunately I’d sell him if possible.

For other clubs rather than us, although Mee was certainly PL quality. Better than he was in the Championship though, I'm not sure.
Anyway, I'm pretty sure Foster won't be better in the PL, but I'd love to be proved wrong!

The number of good games he has had you can count on one hand. Someone should make a t shirt of the Villa away game. In ten years time half the population of Burnley will claim to have been there.

All good players, but do you really think they looked better in the PL (for us) than in the Championship?
Interesting how they are all defensive players too. I dare say it's more difficult for an attacking player to make the step up, unless they're something special, which I really don't think Foster is.

His goal against Blackburn was excellent. He looked top that day. Wish we could see more of that. Preston away epitomised him though. Decent running the channels, making space and a nuisance. But lacked confidence in front of goal.
I like Foster and hope he comes good. But it's last chance saloon this year really!

I can see why so many on here are divided by him-it was really frustrating, last season in particular , watching him in a number of games. However If anyone can surprise us by the way they play in the PL, I have this feeling it could be him

I’ll claim to have been there without waiting ten years. Foster was simply outstanding that day but I don’t think we’ve seen a performance from him anywhere near that since.

Excuse after excuse, year after year.
The truth is he’s absolutely tripe, deep down everybody on here knows it. Why do we keep up with this sympathetic stuff?
He’s the most ineffective striker I can remember at BFC, at least the likes of Gifton and Juke could chest it, hold off a defender and lay it off. Foster can’t even do the basic control and pass 5 yards.
Put the poor chap out of his misery and find him a club at a level where he’s not woefully out of his depth. Sick of seeing his name on here with some fans trying to fool us all into believing he’s not useless, like we all haven’t seen the last 3 years.
