West Indies currently 11 - 6 with Starc already having taken 5 wickets

27 all out What the hell has happened to 'Windies' cricket over the last few years? Back in the day they were always among the best.

It's been a low scoring series throughout but surely the wickets or the batting aren't that poor. Or the bowling that good.

Think this one was a day/night pink ball test.

Following on from Southampton narrowly avoiding the lowest Premier League points total, West Indies just beat New Zealand's record low Test score of 26 all out.

West Indies really have dropped off a cliff.

I don’t think there test team will ever recover to be honest.

Having lived in the Caribbean for 6 years, kids are influenced very much by American sport these days along with aiming for a career in track and field. There is very little money going into any sport in the region unfortunately.

To be fair the West Indies are steadily improving. I remember them scoring 25 v Ireland.

Funny news report on the radio yesterday here in Oz.

Having watched cricket for so long, seeing so many West Indian greats, it's sad to see the lack of quality in their side now and the lack of interest in the Caribbean.

I read yesterday that they'd called up Clive Lloyd, Viv Richards and Brian Lara to try and help restore the batting. To do that I think they might have to wipe a few years off those three and tell them to pad up.

This latest Test debacle from the West Indies helps to mask the real problems that Australia have with their batting lineup. Khawaja and Konstas hardly inspire at the top of the order with Konstas recording ducks in 2 of his last 4 Test innings and Khawaja reaching the veteran stage.

The problem is with their quality of bowling attack, and our hit and miss top order, they might not have to score too many regularly.

To me the Ashes is dependent on whether we can get a fit Mark Wood, and Archer on the plane, and have them available for 5 tests.

Their attack is an ageing one, but seems no signs of slowing at the moment and with the risk of me being totally wrong, they seem to have been pretty injury free for a while now. They always seem to have Starc, Cummins, Hazelwood and Boland available, if they lost a couple of those it's massive advantage to England..

The Wood-Archer axis is our problem though. We know we need them both, but we'll be lucky if they play 5 tests combined. I suspect the best we can hope for is that we can alternate them...which probably wont be enough to win over there.
