Talking to an Ipswich fan last night, she said that some prem grounds last season did not allow bags into the away sections that were bigger than a really small handbag. Rucksacks, no chance! Maybe Ryanair run the Prem now!?
Not all grounds, but she mentioned anfield and OT and villa and poss ethiad.
Anfield give you the option to leave your bag at a church down the road for a not small fee. Awkward to pick up after.
Apparently they allow big bags if they contain merchandise from the club shop.
Maybe you all knew this, but just passing it on in case not.

I remember going to OT several seasons ago and being told we couldn’t take our flask in, we had to leave it outside, never saw it again, presumably they moved it for security reasons.

For several seasons now Wembley Stadium have only allowed in bags which are no larger than an A4 piece of paper.

It’s been like this a while now, Old Trafford definitely and Anfield for a good number of years.

That is one hell of a thin bag

Most of them do this. I often stay over with family for London games and it’s a bit of a pain finding somewhere to leave your bag. Depending on timings I sometimes use the free lockers at the British library (not too far from Euston/Kings Cross), or shell out for the expensive left luggage at the stations. All a faff though.

Yeah this is a pain with an overnight bag - I think it was Spurs that charged £10 for the privilege which came with free additional queuing on drop off and collection.

I sometimes use the luggage storage facility at one of the money laundering outfits fronting as a souvenir shop in Kings Cross which are minimal fuss if you aren’t carrying anything of too much value.

I guess the bigger the bag the bigger the bomb.

Unless you’re a West Brom fan no Baggies allowed.

The left luggage arrangement at Burnley is a little slapdash tbh. I've used it a couple of times but it isn't the most secure

Been some strong debate on that one, they do allow you to take your mobile phone in with you though although any power banks, which a lot of people take with them on long trips, are banned.

Rules for first away game at Spurs (which I'll also add to the general info thread for this match).

All fans will go through “airport style” security checks and bag searches. We strongly advise supporters not to bring a bag into the stadium - however, the following bags will be permitted into the stadium following a search:

Clear carrier bags with a maximum size of 30cm long x 30cm high (Personal bags that do not meet the criteria must not be put inside these bags)
Personal bags of A4 size or smaller (21 cm long x 30cm high)

Please note, laptops sleeves are permitted provided they are no larger than 37cm x 31 cm.

You may have to queue for longer if you choose to bring a bag.

If it's for safety, I've no problem with it

I don't mind the rules, as long as there is proper, reasonably priced and secure options to leave bags. Some people travel to and from games from all over the shop.

They do, but the amount who have large bags then need to store will be minimal. Most people are day trippers, can leave bags in cars or on coaches.

People needing to bring a large bag that have come via public transport, can't be many

It’s been an A5 sizes bag at Old Trafford for many years. Told my A4 sized bag would have to be left at left luggage for £5 but don’t leave valuables in it. Only things in bag were purse, car key, phone and scarf. So put an empty bag in storage.
Same happened at Liverpool 2 seasons ago.
Fortunately on both occasions my son was with me and he had a bubble gilet and coat so put my empty bag underneath them and other things in pockets. Wasn’t felt in his pat down.

When I travel to London games I stay at my brother’s flat, and there just isn’t a great deal of time between arriving at KX on the train, travelling onwards to drop my bag at his and then head to the game. For lunchtime kick offs it wouldn’t even be possible. I expect there are quite a number who are affected similarly, including those who can’t check into a hotel before the game.

I think it was £10 last time I left my bag at Spurs, which is taking the mick.
