Shubman Gill

Shubman Gill Indian cricket captain said that England did not play within spirit of the game (really) maybe he should take a look at some of India’s antics (same with India’s women). Englands time wasting at the start of their second innings was fully justified no cricket captain in the world would say otherwise. India’s arrogance is unbelievable they seem to because they are the major power in cricket they do and say what they want

India’s conduct has been pretty poor throughout the series.

But Tubby Pant fit to bat but not keep wicket is fine?

Gill is a dick.

Think it was the best part of 10 minutes, the umpires were much too lenient with him.

Talk about two faced!

Hilarious comments from Gil today. He obviously doesn’t understand irony.

Hopefully, his comments will backfire like Sundar's did. England team talk done and dusted. I'm there tomorrow and Thursday with some BurnleyCC lads. Fingers crossed weather stays fine.

It vexes me that. Playing with a team of 12 is surely more against the spirit of the game, that's a loophole that needs closing.

The irony being our 12th man took a decisive catch towards the end of day 5.

I’m not sure what loophole needs closing. I don’t think anyone wants to see a fielding team with 10 men.
Even with the wicket keeping, India happened to have someone who could already do the job on the pitch, however lots of teams wouldn’t and you can’t make the rules up as you go.

Even batting wise I think the rules are fair enough for external injuries.

Yeah, just felt a bit convenient that one of their better batsmen didn't have to keep wicket for a day and a half, then batted fresh in his usual spot well up the order. As it stands, he could in theory 'hurt' his finger off the first ball of the test, be replaced by another keeper and then just bat in the match.

A bit of a stretch admittedly, and it's not what they've done here, but you wouldn't need to find a wicketkeeper/batsman anymore in that situation, just pick two specialist players for one spot.

You would need some gullible umpires.

I wouldn’t worry about it.

Like the 2 umpires that allowed the 'on field massage'?

Even worse.

As weak as they were. And have been all series with India.

I'm not one to back up the Indian cricketers who love a Liverpool-esque moan when things don't go all their way, however is it all that different to Bashir being off the field for most of the day, other than to bowl his 10 or so overs?

Thoroughly enjoyable. Even better losing a review for India.

Not playing a stroke when the ball is going on to hit the stumps isn’t within the spirit of the game, either.

Pant sustained a genuine injury but was able to bat, but didn't field
Bashir sustained a genuine injury but was able to bowl, but didn't field.
That's the rules nowadays. Seems pretty reasonable to me, but even if you disagree you can't argue that one side got preferential treatment.
