Request to join unknown WhatsApp groups

I'm constantly receiving phone calls and text messages offering me jobs with an invite to join a WhatsApp group.

I've had four today, three by phone and one by text, and obviously I ignore them because they are not genuine.

Is anyone else getting these or have I been singled out?

None today but had them in the past, I just block the number. Not sure you can report spam on WhatsApp.

I get scam message every now and then, never been for a job offer, get about 1 or 2 per month and I just block the chat and report it.

I don't actually receive them on WhatsApp, just text messages. I block the numbers if they are calls (or don't bother answering) but also block and report any messages.

I had one this week Tony, just reported the number as spam and blocked it. They're a bit less identifiable before answering as they come up as your typical 07********* mobile phone number and not a typical sales call type number, so I do tend to answer them thinking they may be a legitimate call. Obviously a huge scam so just hang up immediately.

Haven't had any via text message though.

Yes, I get them from people claiming to be from the Indeed HR team

Had a few job offers after they have read my CV on Linked In telling me how I would be the prefect candidate to join their team.

I almost fell for it until remembering the only person I have ever worked for was my Dad for a few years in the 1990s

Yes their. Scam. I used to get a few of them i just block the numbers and they appear to have ceased for the last few months

My wife’s gets them, the majority say they’re from “Indeed” offering her a job interview, she’s been retired 8 years, I’ve been encouraging her to take the job.

I'd join, most transfer rumours seem to come from WhatsApp groups.

I’ve also had a few “Dad save my new number” text which is obvious scam seeing as I’ve no kids

as an aside - within Whatsapp you can stop the invites from people you don't know should you get them

To prevent unwanted WhatsApp group invites, you can adjust your privacy settings to limit who can add you to groups. Open WhatsApp, go to Settings > Privacy > Groups, and choose from "Everyone," "My Contacts," or "My Contacts Except..." to control who can directly add you to groups

it's become such an issue that Whatsapp now have a button to delete and block them in one click. Something relatively recently added.

I've been added to 2 what's app recruitment groups already this week. It's doing my head in.

The same on Telegram. It'll be a CPA, they get paid for you to complete a form / offer (cost per action).
