Absolutely right, Tony. Although, of course, you never ever know in football, this should mean Maxime will be a Claret this coming season.

Out of the potential outgoing players, I think most of us would have chosen Maxime to be the one we really hoped wouldn't depart. No disrespect to the three lads that have gone, Maxime is the best of the four and keeping him gives me hope (naive?) that we might just have a chance.

Excellent news and the most important thing is that it means he's staying this season after the 3 we've already lost.

Fantastic news. Will be vital for us this season. His ability is outstanding but his attitude really elevates him.

Although our transfer strategy of the last couple of years has been (rightfully) questioned and largely criticised, he has shown that there are some absolute diamonds out there like him to be found, for clubs like us.

He’ll go far beyond Burnley in his career but let’s enjoy him while we can.

Fantastic news and should see us get a big fee for him when he does move on.

Very happy with this news. Hopefully he'll have as good a season this year as he did last...but it's a different level. I believe he can make the step.

Nice to hear Burnley suits his family too

It should secure us a decent price when he does leave too.

Excellent news. I believe he’ll make it in the PL. He does what all really good defenders do, and makes it look easy. If he has a good season here next season, don’t be surprised to see one of the big boys come in for him. I believe he is THAT good.
