Audible / Audio Book recommendations.
I'm a big fan of audiobooks, they get me through the endless hours on the road. I particularly like crime and/or time travel stories. I often find myself listening to the popular authors that Audible pushes, like Lisa Jewell and Harlan Coben etc. But I'm really keen to discover some hidden gems—maybe lesser-known authors or books that haven't had as much attention. If anyone has any great recommendations, I'd love to hear them.

Re: Audible / Audio Book recommendations.
I was persuaded from the earlier comedy thread to give Blott on the Landscape a go!!! Fantastic...
My current is a classic Jane Ayre, and I've done The Count of Monty Cristo prior to that. Both are well worth it.
I didn't realise how good some of the old classics are, that's my focus at the moment.
I would not recommend Moby Dick though, very hard work!

52 hours for The Count of Monty Cristo, that must be some good value for money!A.Claret.Fan wrote: ↑Thu Jul 31, 2025 10:25 pmI was persuaded from the earlier comedy thread to give Blott on the Landscape a go!!! Fantastic...

If you like Alan Partridge I’d recommend any of his audiobooks. The first two are the best, latest one not quite as good.
They are narrated by Coogan as AP so much better than the written book

The ‘Stranger Times’ audiobooks are brilliant.

Ben Elton’s historical books are excellent.
Murderbot, Expeditionary Force (RC Bray is an excellent narrator) and Red Rising are great and come as part of your membership.
The ‘Stone’ series on BBC is brilliant and you’ll recognise where they ripped off the story ideas for Scott and Bailey (ITV).
Green lights autobiography by Matthew McConaughey is brilliant.

Again on BBC sounds you can find Brief Lives. It follows a small Manchester based criminal legal advisors firm. The series ran for about 15 years in the radio 4 afternoon slot and it’s more a drama than an audio book, but I listened to the whole lot over about 6 months. Unfortunately BBC sounds have removed the first 3 series I think but it’s not hard to pick up.
