Brentford more involved than a wild card in my opinion. Lost their manager, mbuemos left and so on. Not many signings either.

Brentford lost manager GK, captain, top scorer and Wissa on the way out, that’s gonna take some replacing.
WHU lost their best player in Kudus, not really done much.
Both in the mix assuming the promoted teams can keep pace with their points totals.

City after Paqueta at West Ham. They are going to be relying on Bowen a lot again this season.

pre season or not, Man United absolutely smashed Bournemouth the other night. Bournemouth have lost a lot of players so it'll be interesting to see what they do.

Brentford the team for me to target. Loads of upheaval and rookie manager. Remember Le Bris too is a rookie, and Farke similar to Scotty P. So 4 managers there with no Prem survival experience - one has to stay up, if no changes.
Sunderland will absolutely be in there - loads of signings, some very good, but some won't work and they come from a lower base / really lack depth just given they have no recent Prem muscle memory.
Leeds do lack depth too by the way, we have plenty of dross but one thing out bloated squad gives us is a bit of cover at 3rd injury down in one position, we won't have to call on complete jokers / kids. Sunderland don't have this depth, and Leeds have less than us.
Still, obviously going to be incredibly hard to finish 17th, but with two more decent signings we give ourselves a punchers chance if all goes to plan.

Brentford and Bournemouth have been dismantled, such is the price of success at this level. There is no telling how they will cope with the change. Pretty certain Wissa will still leave Brentford yet, too. Whilst they have the money to recruit it’s no guarantee. We need them both to start poorly.

Any of 10 teams could be caught in it next season for me
Teams age and teams lose players and naturally get worse is they don’t replace that talent.
It’s also very expensive to replace a lot of players in an aging team
Also you do have situations where squads don’t realise they have aged as a unit until the season is underway
Lots permutations

Newcastle

Spurs
Man U
Anything could happen:

Give it 6 matches at least, but a lot of the usual suspects, who had a very good 2025, have had a lot of disruption, lost a lot of players.
Brentford lost players and manager.
Bournemouth lost players and their manager will be much sort after.
.Everton are struggling to get their targets through the door.
Wolves haven't strengthened.
West Ham haven't strengthened yet.
If Palace lose Eze, they could struggle.
The wonderful thing about football is it's unpredictability.

I don’t know where that comes from but if 12th only has 35 pts the top 4 must all have 100.

Wolves and Brentford may be a part of the relegation mix this year. Bournemouth look like they have been gutted with numerous players sold but I think they will be okay as they appear to have an excellent manager and recruitment team.
I do hope for the sake of the league that we don’t have a third year in a row whereby the 3 that come up are essentially cut adrift by Christmas, however, inevitably the bottom 5/6 will likely include us, Leeds and Sunderland.

Burnley have lost GK, top scorer, and Egan Riley. Apart from keeping the manager, we've lost the equivalent of what Brentford have lost but starting from a lower level.
I can't see more than 3 teams in the relegation battle. The other 17 are just too well established.

It was mentioned to me this morning that the odds of Leeds, Burnley and Sunderland being the three relegated teams this season are only 5/1, while the previous record-low odds for the three promoted teams being the three to be relegated is 12/1... It seems the bookies don't fancy our chances.

It will change at some point though.
Leicester were seen as a well established side after winning the League, FA Cup, Charity Shield & playing in the Champions League, yet that all collapsed.

Wolves and Brentford.
I think everyone else will just have too much.

Anyone read Ian Grahams z how to win the Premier League. At Liverpool they used Transfermarkt values as a measure of squad strength and found league places were closely related to squad values
Here I hope are the lowest vales and changes since last season.
We are bottom, clubs above the promoted clubs are Everton Wolves Fulham West Ham and Brentford
A month of transfers could change this a little.

The easiest way to outperform the competition would be carry a more sustainably small squad of players.

It's ok going off squad values but Sunderland have yet to sort out their defence and the midfielders they have brought in, apart from Xhaka, are young with no Premier experience. We seem to be signing players who have played in the Premier before. Brun Larsen said the experience he gained last time counts a lot. If we do sign the two from Chelsea, they also have some experience. Even though it isn't a massive amount it is still more than the players Sunderland and Leeds are signing and they have been training with Premier players/teams for the past few years.

Evertons first season in a new stadium. They’ve a creaking squad and having to buy 19-21 year olds to fill gaps - possibly still buying on the cheap with 1.75 eyes on PSR.
Quite frankly, I’m counting the days till I see Everton drop. Hoping they have a torrid, turgid season and they get their comeuppance

They do. But unless he can reverse the effects of ageing. He’s got one hell of a task on his hands. Im hoping he has a dreadful start and the vacuum of the relegation zone suffocates their attacking intent as the lurch towards 20th place.

I’d say maybe because it’s happened for the last two seasons it’s unlikely to happen again. If it does serious questions must be asked about the closed shop situation. I’m not convinced it’s a pattern that’s going to continue. I have an odd feeling we might just be the ones to break the cycle. Much has been made about Sunderland’s expenditure but spending 100 million under Kompany didn’t help us. And they started way behind where we were. And if Leeds attempt to play the open and entertaining stuff they played last season they will get ripped a new backside. We, on the other hand, are solid. We might struggle for goals but I don’t think anyone is going to hammer us. Not sure Everton are going to struggle yet again, they weren’t too shabby last season. Brentford may struggle, and I’d go for possibly Bournemouth too. Who else? Possibly West Ham but that might be wishful thinking on my part.
Just a thought though, could United struggle again? And Spurs look shite. Unlikely I know but one can hope.

They do. It's old hat some people say it all the time every season predict them for the drop but it never happens. If they can manage to stop up with point deductions they can do it without. Far too much experience & know how that's the top & bottom.

None of that post is remotely true.... What 19 year olds are they having to buy? What PSR issues have they got?
Everton will be closer to top 8 than bottom 3 this season.

Every chance. Last year they were 13 points below 8th, 23 points above 18th.
Even Man Utd were 17 points off bottom 3 and 19 points off top 8. It was a long way from the bottom 3 to 4th bottom.

I’d expect a few more to be involved, or at least not safe until the last 8 games or so.
The top 3 last season had 33 points less (combined) than the season before.
Man Utd and Spurs last season had 46 points less (combined) than the season before.
If the bigger clubs (Spurs, Man City, Man Utd, Arsenal) find better form, the other clubs will be more in reach.
Palace for instance vs
Chelsea, 2 points
Man Utd, 4 points won
Spurs, 6 points won
Ipswich, 6 points won
If those top teams had some real form against just one of the teams like a Palace/Brentford/Wolves, and we could gain 6 points against them. That could be the difference.

Man U are selling their best players and I feel they will struggle again.Spurs have lost one of their best players in Son.I don't see whose going to score goals but in Frank they have secured a top manager.Brentford will struggle and Andrews will be sacked before October
