Apparently he’s suspended from next Saturday morning friendly but can play in the afternoon against Lazio.

Yeah saw that on Burnley express this morning. I think it's crazy, don't understand why the ref didn't just allow him to be subbed instead of a second yellow. I realise he's claiming he was told to ref it like a league game, must be a first for a friendly...

Gudmundsson was sent off for us in a friendly a couple of years ago.

Kyle Lafferty was sent off in a friendly in Austria in 2007 and got a three match ban. Because of that, when he was sent off that season in the FA Cup against Arsenal he got another three match ban extended to four because of the previous red card.

If the ref was directed to referee the game as if it was a competitive fixture then that is ridiculous given the reasons for preseason friendlies

Is that when his boot “touched the man” who did the usual Arsenal scream………..and ref went “oooo big boys versus “

Off you go my son.?

Every competent ref in the history of friendlies has done that.

Even Stoke agreed to a sub and Robins has said it spoilt the game.

Still winds me up, his foot bounced up but there was no way it was intentional, just looked bad slowed down to those that dont understand football.

Perhaps he misunderstood the context of 'like a league match' when it comes to competitive and yet not anything tackles etc.

I think that the ref wanted him off because he had agreed to referee to the league rules. However, why then did he not play any extra time for injuries and substitutions ???
