Curiosity re Lazio

Is there an organised welcoming for fans of Lazio visiting Burnley this weekend, by either the town, the club or any supporters group(s)?
Only asking because I haven't seen anything mentioned on here.
Any Italian speaking Burnley fans planning on doing their own thing and helping their fans to feel welcome?
Any pubs making that extra effort? Royal Dyche?
Always better to build bridges rather than think afterwards, 'what could we have done better?'

Well, maybe there should be, but rivalries aside, I just think it's an opportunity to create a good 'friendly' atmosphere for what I thought was a friendly pre-season game.
I can see you are not in favour ClaretAndJew and that's fine.

Lazio fans are widely despised by other Italians. No idea why the majority of our Italian community, who are largely from Naples or Sicily, would be wanting to give them a warm welcome.

Correct if im wrong but i believe lazio are friends with celtic. I've seen a few burnley rangers flags going around so it wouldn't go down well with them

We used to see plenty of "organised welcomes" back in the 70's but that was certainly a euphemism!!

Couldnt be any more wrong.
Lazio far right and Celtic left wing.
This is the banner Lazio displayed when they played just under 2 years ago…

There's a chap I know in whitworth who speaks Italian,i might ask him to join us for the game, but then again I might not as he told a mate of mine, that he learned the language in two weeks, from start to finish.Yes you have guessed he's a complete dick and makes Walter Mitty look plausible,

I agree with this, we had terrible issues with Hannover 96’s left wing ultras a few years ago and now we’ve gone for the other wing.

My original query was because I do remember in the past, that there have been welcomes made by such as the Burnley mayor, or did I dream it all?

A post WELCOMING opposing fans?
Nobody is welcome to Burnley - bring your best singing voices and hope your players do the biz on the pitch
I'm hoping Lazio turn up with some form of ULTRA atmosphere in our ground

Before we get all lovey dovey with the bloody Italians, for those who are old enough to remember... The last time we played in Italy was the Inter cities fairs cup against SCC Napoli when Harry Thompson was spat in the face by Napoli players and staff and Blacklaw had a gun pointed at him. So, sorry, but I bear a grudge...so no bloody Italian will get any respect from me.

I also remember those 2 games, where we walloped Napoli 3-0 on aggregate.
Character building. Don't think I'd hold a grudge for 60 years though.
Napoli, I could understand, but to transfer it to Lazio, not so sure.
Do you hate every Scottish club, due to what Celtic fans did when they visited?

Nope. I have no interest whatsoever in Scottish football. It is on such a poor level anyway.

That's a bit like someone saying "no english person will every get any respect from me because of the way some hooligans were in the 70's". Very backward if not insular way of looking at things, hardly representative of the 60+m other people in the country. Do you get outside of the towns boundaries much?
Wasn't it only a few years ago in the Europea League early draw that people on here were gushing over Aberdeen and the treatment they had away bu the home supporters. A seem to remember a Belgium/German team played a friendly here a few years ago and were in the cricket club before and after and everyone applauding and how nice there fans are and trying to build some relations.
It's a pre-season friendly, absolute nothing at stake here for either teams. Hardly a relegation decider.

I wasn't Hannover I was referring to.
Conversely, how many games have we had trouble free from following fans over the 130+ year?

Celtic aren't 'Left' or 'Right' at all, simply anti-British Irish Nationalists.
Same with the SNP - whatever politics they adopt is all incidental. The only consistency is oppositionalism. Oppositionalism to the British establishment.
If we had, for example, 20 years of Prime Minister Jeremy Corbyn we'd get the SNP extolling the virtues of the free market and Austrian economics.

Celtic had a group called the Green Brigade, which seemed to be Left Wing and received a stadium ban for their persistent flouting of ground rules by waving pro Palestine flags. No ideas what their views on the real big Left wing issues like Trans or personal pronouns are but they seemed a bit Left wing.
Been to the Stadio Olimpico and also seen Lazio in Milan and Birmingham and they didn't seem like the types that were about to beat me up for having he/him tattoed on my forehead.
No doubt there will be the odd Roman salute for the wokeybobs to get excited about but not sure the
irriducibile will be out in force looking for people with Che Guevara T shirts on to beat up.

Bonkers, it’s all bonkers!.
Unless people take things completely literally, for my part I’m talking about the performative actions of a certain type of Celtic fan. But there’s plenty of them.
They wave Palestine flags. Does this make them “left wing”? No, not under any reasonable definition.
It’s not that Rangers fans aren’t predominantly unionist and Celtic fans predominantly republican - this is clearly true. It’s that these positions are neither left nor right.
Do Celtic fans waving Palestine flags do so to promote the cause of seizing the means of production from the bourgeoisie? Do rangers fans wave union flags to support a flat rate of taxation and reduced global tariffs?
Or is it all just to wind the other lot up?
Labelling football clubs and their supporters “left wing” or “right wing” is pointless and daft.
