This has to stop though, I was just about to go to bed, didn't think for one minute we'd announce one at 10:30.

This lad was just a vague name to me until the rumours began but the comments I've read including the Chelsea fans' remarks make me think we might just have bought a key player. A real unit who has PL experience, youth and what our defence will need in front of it.

The type of midfielder I wanted us to sign and the type of midfielder we’ve been crying out for previously at this level.

Everyone seems to be getting excited about this signing. What kind of player is he? Who would you compare him to?

Chelsea fans seem to differ on his position. Most say he is a 6 but some say he is an 8. He is good at passing and tackling (I think he got 85% passing last season with Southampton). They seem to think he is going to be a real player looking at Twitter and are upset that they have sold him and not loaned him out. 'I think' (not positive it was him) he said he was a box to box player in an interview I saw.

I've only seen a few Youtube clips but would Patrick Vieira be absurd?

Personally, first signing that has got my cockles a little bit warm and at my age that's no mean feat.

Current players in the PL maybe someone like Kamara at Villa would be a decent comparison (I hope he's as good).

I was watching SSN yesterday and they were saying they have to sell a good number of players because of the amount they are spending. They've sold the listed building Dewsbury-Hall to Everton today as well and they reckoned a good number more will have to go.

They paid about £25m for him so are selling at a loss. I think Dewsbury-Hall has gone at a loss as well as they paid £30m for him and aren't getting that back. They just want the wages off the books so seem to be taking anything decent.

A big plus is that he is in the Under 21 bracket, so doesn't impact the 25 registered player limit (for over 21s).

He was in the Chelsea team at the start of the season under Poch and doing well until he got injured. In came a new manager and he couldn't get back in the team.

It's anyone born after the beginning of January 2004 who doesn't have to be included although if they are on loan they do have. Besides Ugochukwu, we also have Max Weiß, Luca Koleosho, Jaydon Banel and Enock Agyei in that group.

“As soon as I was made aware of the club’s interest in signing me, I was keen to hear more about the project.

I spoke to the manager and Maxime Estève, they were both so passionate about the club and the direction it’s heading in"

God I love Steve :D

I just had a quick look on saintsweb to see what they made of him, I wish I hadn’t bothered now! They’re almost polar opposite to the comments from Chelsea fans.

I suppose the concern is that he may well look good in a team full of top quality players… In a team with less quality and fighting relegation, it’s a very different challenge.

https://www.saintsweb.co.uk/topic/61026 ... wu/page/3/

Parker will surely be a great help in developing him - hopefully he turns out to be the quality in midfield that we need.

In the paraphrased words of Alvin Stardust:
You really are our Ugochukwu

Has to be a ready made song for us here!

Ugochu I just want you
Really love the things that you do
Come on and love-a-me too
Oh won't you be my Ugochukwu

Sweetness I like how ya dress
I love the way you know you're the best
I'm in love and I'm in a mess
I really want you Ugochukwu

Come on lets do it again
I really want my Ugochukwu

Just as importantly, is this the biggest height differential in a midfield two at Burnley? Cullen at 5’9 and Big Les at 6’3.
