It doesn't look as though they have added any new referees to the Select Group list but they have created a new Select Group Supplementary List of six referees who will take charge of matches in both the Premier League and Championship.

I have to admit that it was my first thought yet PGMO (they seem to have dropped the L now) saw fit to give him the Championship opener last night. I suspect he might get some PL games though.

One of that new reserve list Ben Toner was born in Blackburn out of interest.

I didn't know that but he was once removed from a Blackpool game when it was kicking off with the Oystons. There were concerns they might have used the name Bent Owner.

His place of birth is I assume why he has never refereed us.

Shows how low standards have sunk when that’s the ‘select’ group.

He refereed Ipswich v Leicester and West Ham v Saints last season in the PL. I thought they were obviously fast tracking him, but maybe his performances in those games has set him back?

They should have set him back to reffing primary school football
