That's at least one nailed-on penalty for Tottenham!

Re: Referee confirmed for Tottenham game
I think Oliver is the best Premier league referee around, which isn't to difficult with the current lot .

Best of a very poor bunch. The current top flight refs are the worst we've had in a long while

It'll be no doubt VAR we have to worry about.

Earned his reputation but given too much credence these days. Missed some big incidents and held too much sway over less senior refs in recent years.

Re: Referee confirmed for Tottenham game
To be fair any name announced ( except Rob ‘look at me’ Jones ) would have had a mixed response. Like has been mentioned already the current crop of referees leave a little bit to be desired. My lad is going to be a top ref but unfortunately for us he will not be able to officiate us or that lot down the road due to his Burnley allegiance.
Re: Referee confirmed for Tottenham game
We’ll be fine, he’ll give us a penalty to make the result 1-1.

Another who’s grateful for any Burnley game in which we manage to avoid Rob Jones. I recoil at the thought of that ponce trying to be the centre of attention again.
As for Oliver, fine. He does at least try to let a game flow, I think.

Best of a bad bunch and as said above, a nailed on penalty for Spurs and take your pick which of the Burnley upstarts gets a red card.
One of the downsides of the Premier League.

Re: Referee confirmed for Tottenham game
I very much doubt whether this game will hinge on the performance of the referee

Maybe not but I remember a few years ago we were relegated after losing 1-0 to a Kane penalty when Barnes was ruled to have handled the ball. He had been nudged in the back and his arm
Moved to an unnatural position and the bouncing ball glanced his sleeve (IMO). Penalty given - Burnley relegated that day (I think). Bstrds
