Re: ARTICLE: Muric leaves Ipswich in loan deal
His stock has dropped considerably after a couple of years in the Prem and a quite a few high profile errors, but he was excellent in our promotion season under Kompany and for a team at that level looking to stretch the game (as Ipswich will be), he’d be a real asset.

Played for a Championship side who romped the league and gained promotion, so Ipswich loan him out now they are back in the Championship.
They are either mental, or he just wanted to move away.

Re: ARTICLE: Muric leaves Ipswich in loan deal
Wasn’t a fan of his initially, but thought he was outstanding in the second half of the promotion season and was disappointed when he left.
I thought he had most of the attributes to kick on and become an established top-flight goalkeeper.

Re: ARTICLE: Muric leaves Ipswich in loan deal
When he retires I wouldn't be surprised if we've had the best season of his career. He's had plenty of clubs already. Great season, but by hook or by crook a great time to sell him.

A born entertainer who can do it all- great saves, great footwork and slapstick comedy.
Genuinely one of my favourite players to watch of the last 5 years.

If we end up doing another yo-yo club exchange with Ipswich and find ourselves back in the Championship next year, could maybe bring him back on loan for that…

No surprise, Muric wont want to be a 3rd choice keeper and Ipswich won’t want him sulking whilst paying him decent wages.
Doubt we will see Muric play in this country again.

Mid-long range passing aside, he is a bad goalkeeper. Couldn't really see what others saw in him, other than the 'entertainment factor', which is not something I look for in a goalkeeper.

He's obviously a basket case, but there is a lot of revisionism about Muric on here.

A keeper who couldn't do the basics right isn't someone I want to see us watching, particularly in an unforgiving League like the EPL!

Re: ARTICLE: Muric leaves Ipswich in loan deal
He's a hell of a talent, just calling him a bad goalkeeper is silly. There's a reason he keeps getting good moves. If he can become Consistent then there's a world class keeper in there.
I don't think he has the right personality type for it to be honest but I'm sure managers will keep trying to iron out the creases.

"Probability of a Clanger every 1-3 games"
Muric played 55 times for us
Errors leading to goals - Prem - 2
Errors leading to goals - Championship - 1
75% save percentage in the championship (98 percentile)
81% save percentage in the Premier league (99 percentile)
Pass completion rate- Championship - 80.46% (76 percentile)
Pass completion rate - Prem - 67.5% (44.7 percentile)
His career has nosedived since we sold him, but I'm not having that he was some sort of clown goalkeeper who was completely useless.

There's also a reason he keeps getting shipped out from his clubs - firstly from City, then us and now Ipswich.Goliath wrote: ↑Wed Aug 13, 2025 3:04 pmHe's a hell of a talent, just calling him a bad goalkeeper is silly. There definitely isn't a world class keeper anywhere near him in my opinion.

Crap keeper, will disappear into football anonymity now.
In 28 premier league games he made 7 mistakes which lead to a goal. The worst record of any keeper in premier league history.
No idea why so many on here rated him. Even VK himself knew he was knowhere near premier league standard. Selling him was genuinely Paces best bit of business since being at the club. Made great profit.

I wouldn't say we shipped him out. I doubt he wanted to stay after his treatment the previous season and he got an upwards move.Woosh Deakin wrote: ↑Wed Aug 13, 2025 3:20 pmThere's also a reason he keeps getting shipped out from his clubs - firstly from City, then us and now Ipswich.

It looked to me like his confidence was shot last season which is surprising. He looked nervy on the ball which is unlike him.
Also, would you also say Trafford was 'shipped out' by City or more realistically just let go because they were young, inexperienced and needed regular football.
Re: ARTICLE: Muric leaves Ipswich in loan deal
Because what he has done in terms of performances since playing for Ipswich is irrelevant to us, as most people only rated his performances whilst playing for Burnley, which in general were pretty decent. I think the odd cock up here and there has clouded peoples judgement.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 13, 2025 3:22 pmCrap keeper, will disappear into football anonymity now.

Re: ARTICLE: Muric leaves Ipswich in loan deal
We definitely shipped Muric out, of course we did, Trafford was clearly our number one at that point
I would also say Trafford was shipped out by City - one hundred percent. He hadn't made a single start for them in any competition before being shipped out to Burnley

Re: ARTICLE: Muric leaves Ipswich in loan deal
Right. So he left because we had the most valuable young goalkeeper in world football and because he had an offer for a PL club. It suited all parties. You can reduce it to the term shipped out if you want but it's a bit simple.Woosh Deakin wrote: ↑Wed Aug 13, 2025 4:19 pmWe definitely shipped Muric out, of course we did, Trafford was clearly our number one at that point

Re: ARTICLE: Muric leaves Ipswich in loan deal
He was trending on X during a friendly because he was getting booed by the Ipswich fans. I'm guessing the situation was untenable so the loan suits everyone.

Re: ARTICLE: Muric leaves Ipswich in loan deal
He’s the most entertaining goalie I’ve ever seen. More than capable of pulling off miraculous diving stops, dribbling past a couple of opposing forwards, pinging a 60 yard pass to a team mates feet
Two minutes later lets a simple back pass slip under his foot and into his own net for a howler
……priceless entertainment

Re: ARTICLE: Muric leaves Ipswich in loan deal
There was also a period when he came back into the side in the PL season where he was the top-performing keeper for goals prevented for a few weeks on the bounce.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 13, 2025 3:22 pmCrap keeper, will disappear into football anonymity now.

Fantastic against Brentford, perfect ratings at Chelsea away, then sadly around the corner was the infamous cockup against Everton at home.
All the talent in the world, but lacks the concentration to be a consistent top performer - I thought he may have been able to iron this out as he gained more experience but he struggled at Ipswich.
Shame really, because I haven't quite seen a goalkeeper quite like it. Hopefully he will have success at Sassuolo because he is entertaining when he's on it.

He was that rubbish he somehow conspired to get into the PFA Championship team of the year. Must have been paid off by the Kosovan Mafia.

Re: ARTICLE: Muric leaves Ipswich in loan deal
It wasn’t the odd clanger though was it? His distribution in the PL was atrocious. As someone else said his mid to long range passing is excellent but his short range stuff was suicidal, sloppy and brainless. Forget the obvious clangers, how many times did he relentlessly give the ball away on the edge of his own box.Ric_C wrote: ↑Wed Aug 13, 2025 4:05 pmBecause what he has done in terms of performances since playing for Ipswich is irrelevant to us, as most people only rated his performances whilst playing for Burnley, which in general were pretty decent. Re: ARTICLE: Muric leaves Ipswich in loan deal
For a position that requires ultimate concentration and consistency, he was capable of making an almighty balls up.
He was excellent in the promotion season once he settled down, but to be fair, the team were playing that well that he was just a sweeper for large parts of it.
Best of luck to him anyway

Re: ARTICLE: Muric leaves Ipswich in loan deal
The modern day version of Gabor Kiraly, for me, in terms of keepers that had undoubted talent but were always seemingly prone to getting bored and thinking of creating 'things to do'.
There are always goalkeepers who are remembered for their eccentricity yet, on many occasions, great play. Bruce Grobbelaar and Fabien Barthez are another couple that spring to mind, even Peter Schmeichel had his moments. Not that I am, before anyone says it. comparing Gabor Kiraly and Muric to those three!!!!!
