No suggestion of that from Burnley but confirmed by Cercle Brugge

Bit bizarre. Almost like the media team weren’t aware!

Does the option to buy mean we don't think he will be ready for our first team after a year. We could be back in the Championship by then.

IMO it just shows that plenty of these young players are just seen as stock items.

I understand that for any of our players going out on loan now, there has to be an option/obligation to buy.

Could it be an accounting thing? If they have an option it counts towards PSR in some way?

Why does there have to be a option to buy the lad is only young and if we are back in the championship he could be good for us ...

We have a young prospect and send him out on loan to get more experience, surely not to sell especially if we go back down he could be better in another season..

In his interview, Ekdal said his loan last season was without any option to buy coz the plan was to get playing minutes and come back to us. Why wouldn't this be any different?

I'll be astonished if Accy have an option on Joe Bauress.

Adewumi looked a real talent in his cameo at Shrewsbury , very silky and covers ground effortlessly

No - they seem to have a surplus of players that lots of clubs want to buy, ours must just be cluttering up the training ground at this stage!

It seems these owners are big fan's of it CT, be it incoming or outgoing, all no doubt linked in some way to the robbing Peter to pay Paul thing, in terms of the running of the club imo.
Ultimately will only be an option to buy at the right price, but as we've already found out in some instances re Pope, Trafford for example, it depends where the finances stand at any given time, that's where I feel we are in terms of the running of football club's nowadays unfortunately.

Great move for him.
Banel was signed after him, maybe he's rated higher. Similar age and position. Or maybe the option price is high.

100%.
There are many reasons to dislike ALK, but our treatment of players like cattle is despicable.

Is the info on the option 100% true?
Perhaps it could be first refusal on him if we decide to sell etc?
I was under the impression that he was rated quite highly?

Burnley have not hinted at the option but Cercle Brugge confirmed it

No criticism of CT for covering it but the situation for us as fans is basically we don't need to be interested in these signings until they appear in the first team

Looks that way to me. Buying up players surplus to requirements and holding onto them in case they come good.
Sometimes buying players for the sake of it.
Then loaning them out for apparent accounting.
Some of those we're shipping out look like they would have walked into our first team a generation ago.

Could easily be that the player and his agent insisted on there being a buy option as they might not think the player has a chance to make the grade at Burnley.

Lads were always signed for the youth teams and reserves/development squads, then loaned out, sold, released, or 1% broke through to the first team.
Now with so much access to the club and youth signings announced on social media, and with forums like this where the tiniest thing can be spun into a huge issue, these kids are put on a pedestal upon signing with a full expectation that they can become a Premier League or Championship player by the time they're 21, simply because people have heard of them.
Some will always just be fodder, always was the case

Buy cheap & sell for profit, that’s the business model our owners use.

A good move for him. Looks a decent prospect but we’re ridiculously overloaded with wingers and wide forwards so his pathway will be blocked.
Would have been beneficial if we could have got him a loan to a Championship club (to get him experience at a familiar level), however we can only loan players where the interest is.
