The new CFS “ corner “ atmosphere challenge ?

I know this has been discussed on other threads but is this actually a permanent ( when completed ) move of the home CFS lot ? The more I think about it ,were further away from. “ linking” to the Longside and have a full away end sandwiched in between . It seems almost suicidal in terms of atmosphere?

It's a terrible idea. I haven't been against ALK at all since there arrival, but the way we've been treated this summer has been awful. Not impressed at all.
We'll be out sung by most teams this season.
Brilliant away day mind.

Initially i said the same thing. The more I think about it though im.wkndering whether it may actually help the atmosphere. Its always easier to kick up an atmosphere when you're near the opposing fans, now I suppose both James Hargreaves lower and CFS will be either side of them rather than Bob Lord on one side.

That’s a good point re: both sets of home fans being close to away lot . Though if the away lot are really singling they could be just nullify the CFS home fans . The CFS has always sounded a bit isolated , I guess we’ll find out soon enough . Maybe the BL will join in …

I must say, all the other potential problems aside, I’ve viewed the change as a potential boost to the atmosphere. It seems to me to make far more sense to have the away fans sandwiched between the Longside and the CFS’s Burnley contingent, rather than relying on a few hardy Bob Lorders to try their best to conjure a retaliatory atmosphere.

Al & co have really gone out of their way to make it a great place for an away fan.
How that helps us, I really don't know.

It hasn’t harmed multiple away teams making more noise than us in that corner. I don’t think the switch has been handled well at all (far from it). But arguments about atmosphere stretch the point too far imo and weaken the more important impacts.

Does it effect you? Do you have a ST in the Cricket Field? If not then you're alright Jack.

Not wishing to open an old chestnut but for me the only way to improve the atmosphere is for home fans to be allocated the whole of the CFS. What a potential advantage thats slipped through our fingers for far too long imo.

Some good varied angles brought up . Obviously it means different things to different people .
One almost unique thing we do /did have at Burnley is the noise actually travelling the full length of the ground via the CFS then down the Longside ,which on the rare occasions we do “ turn it on” the sheer full on roar of “ C’mon Burnley “ is a tremendous sound .

Could well be set up nicely for some call and response chants between the CFS and the Longside. Bit of invention needed

A brand new CFS is required.
Home fans only.
Away supporters can be accommodated in the JH Lower, much like that at Wolves.
Difficult ?

Maybe this move is the more curser for this, as all the logistics in terms of fans enteramce and exit points are now in place for this to happen..would just need the concourse splitting , like in the CFS, and some more external fencing separating the home and away fans in the JH and you can easily do it..

From the Bob Lord, there looked to be loads of empty seats in the away end about ten seats wide from front to back. Did they not take up their full ticket allocation? They had more than half the CFS and clearly didn't need all of the seats.
Looking at the Jimmy Mac and North stands there were several clusters of empty seats in here too.
BBC Sport app has the attendance today at 21,285.

Far corner of CFS away end was very sparse.
Either Sunderland didn't take their full allocation or something went drastically wrong!

There were loads of empty seats in the corner, to me it looked like a similar amount to block C which should be OUR block. Away end bigger, home end smaller..what the hell is going on?

There seemed to be a completely empty square of seats close to the Longside. Surely Sunderland sold out?

There are few teams in the top divisions which can boast a facility as poor as the CFS.
We want to become an established top tier club and staunchly refuse to invest in Turf Moor.
There's no requirement for top end dining or plush executive areas. Just somewhere decent for the supporters which is not falling apart.
Take for example, Brentford built a new 17,500 seat stadium at a cost of £70m. Admittedly, there were incentives involved but we need to bulldoze the CFS even if it means a reduction in capacity for a couple of seasons.

Thought the same (from block 4 Longside)
The vocal fans are next to the non singing boblord fans, and it seems like we have more tickets for away fans.
I know I'm thinking way too far ahead, but that setup in a difficult Championship season would be a disaster.
As much as I hate Coyle, the idea to push for fans in the Cricket stand was a great decision. We suffered when it was reversed and then flourished when it came back.
I feel like this could make us suffer too (atmosphere wise) the longer it goes I think we will see the noise receed/suffer.

The North Stand was rocking today great atmosphere ... loved the "Ecstacy of Gold" intro music (from The Good The Bad and The Ugly) albeit a tad loud with the new PA system ...

My Sunderland mate didn’t have enough loyalty points so was looking at corporate in JM but at £150 a pop just for a padded seat decided against.
So they must have sold out..

CFS were beyond awful today , though Longside was decent enough . Though what in holy hell was going on a min before KO with the good/bad/ugly thing was bizzare, totally killing the pre match noise ( hardly a new concept though )

Away allocation seems similar to what it always has been in recent seasons and needs to be at that number to meet Premier League criteria.

Longside lower and upper used to be the main vocalists from since the 90's redevelopment.
I remember most of the CFS regulars used to sit in the Longside lower.
Back in the James Hargreaves days, they got pushed to the end blocks due to constant standing/bad language etc. Even in the Ternent days, the lower Longside block never sat down.
Only since the Cricket field end reopened to home fans, did those from the JH/Longside move into the Cricket stand.

What do you mean “staunchly refuse to invest “? We’ve built 2 new disability stands in the last few years. Whilst I agree that the Cricket Field Stand needs replacing I’m not sure Brentford is the best example. I take it that you’ve never been? It’s the cheapest pile of shite I’ve ever visited.

It's not a bad idea imo. Makes membership of the all-singing BFC CFS all the more exclusive. I reckon given time they will be the BFC equivalent of the Crystal Palace Tifosi.... and it will become a much more special place to be. Stop bloody moaning !

Seemed much louder today. In the cricketfield (way less room than the last 15 years or whatever it’s been due to plastic seats)
Funny seeing the faces of the Bob lord lot looking over at us. I can’t get my head around sitting down and not cheering your own team on.

I've noticed that sizeable numbers of fans in away ends don't sit in their allocated seats as much anymore. I suspect people were bunching up closer to the middle.

Old fella I know has been in every stand over the years, now recides in the Bob Lord. Approaching the quiet stereotypical "flask and blanket" Burnley fan.
One time he got up and started absolutely effing and jeffing towards tor City bench out of nowhere. Thought fair play mate, give him some grief. Turns out he just had cramp in his leg. Jack Grielish didn't know what was going on.
Probably the most noise he's made in the BL for years

Sat in the Bob Lord towards the cricket field, thought it was pretty loud, but the noise doesn't seem to travel at all.
As for the Bob Lord being quiet, i've never had funny looks for raising my voice, which i felt like i was getting last time i was in Longside upper, down towards the Jimmy Mac.

I wonder if we are the only fans who moan about our older fan base? I bet we probably are, as we do seem to moan about anything and everything regarding BFC, to the extent, that I wonder why some people even bother with football, because they don't seem to enjoy much about it. Even in pre-season, it doesn't relent.
