How’s that going to work for home fans if we can’t get to it? I’m assuming there will be two entrances?
It sounds a good idea on the face of it

It’s still accessible. They are only blocking the road for cars as they do on Harry Potts way. The ormerod yard they are talking about is the path down the side of Burnley CC to get to the away end.
It’s pretty much business as usual for anyone who wants to go to the fan park

I’m sure it will be packed out with Mackems on Saturday, just a shame it’s going to be a much longer walk for home fans before & after the game if they use the cricket club.

It’s pretty ridiculous as most people have said about switching the cricket field end around. I’d love to know how much thought has actually gone into that because the last time they had the bottleneck at the shop it was an absolute disaster

My mate is pleased about the switch. He’s a Sunderland fan who is now in a wheelchair so he won’t have as far to go to get to the turnstiles from the cricket club.
As for the bottleneck, I’ll be in that come Saturday instead of going up Ormerod Yard. These changes are definitely not going to enhance my experience.

Overseas - Is there not a wall behind the pavillion which could be opened up to allow away fans access to their turnstiles, without them having to go through the very narrow gate onto Ormerod Yard?

I admire the fighting spirit by the cricket club but I just can't see many home fans going out of their way to go to there.
There's a good chance that even more away fans use their facilities and have time for an extra pint, So it might be a win for them.

Is there a “pedestrian” exit from the Cricket club to Harry Potts Way?
We usually park at the CC walk through the gate in the fence onto Ormerod Yard then round to the JM stand.
If we can’t park there, then we’d have to try find some other parking on the JM side that would be limited as mostly street parking
He does have a blue badge but that only has 3hr limit and we would probably be parked up longer than that having to get there before 2 to be close enough and the envisaged delays leaving

There is a gate there wilks_bfc, or there definitely used to be one, but it leads to the football club’s private car park.

Wouldn’t make any difference anyway Tony
Hadn’t seen that Belvedere was closed 2hrs prior so won’t even be able to park there anyway now

You will be able to use Belvedere Road for access, I’m sure you will. There are houses across the road in any case.

Apparently the road closure only runs up to our gate. So you would still be able to access the cricket club car park

I don’t think that would be needed. The gate was always open when away fans used to access from that side I believe and there weren’t any issues then. Lots of home fans used it anyway to access CFS and James Hargreaves

people can still access their homes by all accounts

Yes but I was just wondering if it was a possibility and then away fans wouldn't need to access the road down the side of the cricket club and that would still allow home fans to use it.

Interesting idea. Existing gate through to Ormerod Yard for home fans and new gate in the wall for away fans. The type of thing that might have been proposed had there been any real sort of consultation.

The club should create a really good fans zone, properly advertised, with beer at the same price or cheaper than the CC.
If the cash cow is removed from the CC they could be more welcoming to a collaboration in terms of the cricket field stand redevelopment.
Unless you value the success of the CC more than the FCs redevelopment I’d suggest avoiding the place at all costs

Avoiding the place? The cricket club provides an excellent option for both home and away fans. It seems the only place home and away fans can mix now before the game.

I used to enjoy going to the Cricket Club for a pre-match pint, but won't bother now as it will be a long walk to my seat in the CFS rather than the few steps it has been previously.

If the club created a decent home fans zone and a separate away fans zone then there would be no need to go to the CC. The FC is the CC cash cow. If the FC severe that then I’m sure the CC would be more willing to collaborate with the FC going forward if development included a new club house, shared fans zone etc.
At the moment the CC has no need to collaborate with the club, but if done smartly the club could really harm the CCs finance.
The FC should do it

I think it’s shocking that the CC is unlikely to offer an inch to the club because it’s bank rolling it. The CC is a parasite. The FC is the host.
The FC could and should try its best to remove the financial benefits the CC gain from being neighbours. If that’s done then collaboration, or ideally relocation, is more possible

I’ve no allegiance to the cricket club but in my mind, I’d far rather both clubs worked in harmony. There’s no reason why the two can’t coexist and benefit from one another.
The last thing that I think the club should be doing is playing hardball with a fellow sports business in the town.
Do we actually know that the cricket club has prevented us from developing, or is this just hearsay?

Without the cricket club, the football club wouldn't even be at Turf Moor. Why on earth should the cricket club bend over for the football club? What a bizarre notion, and I have zero affiliation with Burnley CC.

I've no love for Burnley CC but I hope this is a success.
Like most small cricket clubs they rely on volunteers and a small staff to offer positive things for the community.
I do think there is a mutually beneficial scenario that could work, but that's down to the CC and the FC.
The CC has been majority away fans for years now, that won't change. Particularly in the prem, they'll be swamped most match days.good for them

What a very strange view to take and clearly exposes how little you know about how things actually work between BCC and BFC in terms of working relationships, collaboration and actual dealings with each other. Especially seeing as you seem to see BCC as some sort of blocker or spoiling things somehow.
It also shows how little you know about how much money is made on a football game compared to other revenue streams. It’s not the be all and end all, contrary to what many people think. If it was, surely we’d be rolling in cash. Think about why we don’t.
It’s not all about money.
So, calling the local community club from (I assume) your own town, powered by volunteers in the main, that produced our country’s greatest ever sportsman, is a place used for decades by Clarets (many from Lowerhouse and other clubs, for what it’s worth, who post-BFC games are some of our most regular customers and stay well after away fans have left) and was there BEFORE the football club shows you up for what kind of person you are to be honest.

Why on earth should the FC not use its clout to force collaboration if the CC won’t give an inch? It’s hearsay but it’s well known hearsay.
Also the FC don’t owe the CC anything. The CC have done extremely well out of being neighbours.
I’d much rather BFC fans gave their money to the FC than the CC. The FC should try to maximise profits. They should actively be trying to entice fans that drink at the CC to the FC

Exactly. Away fans… Yeah, whatever, it’s good they come but what’s a couple of hours of lots of strangers 19 times a year. It’s not what actually keeps a community club going g. We mainly want to still have the club being part of home fans matchday routine like it always has been. Just like Justine at the Dyche, the Members at the Miner’s and everyone else in the area does.

I think what doesn't help this is that there is a opinion (rightly or wrongly I don't know) between lots of Burnley fans that the cricket club is a away designated pub where they all congregate. Lots don't want to mix before games. I went in a few times last season as it doesn't bother me
The promotion like you've done for this game should help that.

The well known hearsay that the CC has been difficult to deal with.
Even if it’s nonsense the FC should try to attract fans away from the CC to its own bars, food stalls etc. it’s literally next door. If I owned a bar and I noticed the bar next door was packed I’d be trying to entice all the punters to my bar

You’re correct that that is an opinion but the view is 100% wrong.
It’s a mixed pub. Always has been. And it’s one of the best aspects of matchday there for lots of people that we get told regularly: chatting football with opposition fans, kids playing against each other pretending they’re representing their clubs with fans cheering them on and whatnot.
We put all this work into the fan zone before these plans were mooted to help make the experience even better and get even more home fans in.
Imagine how we feel now.

Putting aside the fact that I imagine there is a very big crossover of BCC members being BFC supporters, so it's not one or the other, if the FC genuinely wants to draw the crowds in, then matching or beating the prices of local establishments is the only way they are going to manage it.

I’d suggest the 99% of Burnley supporters don’t support the CC.
I agree the club should match or even offer slightly cheaper prices than the CC. And also use the clubs resources to make it fun for kids and older fans. The fan zone experience has got better in recent seasons but it’s still not as good as a cheap pint sat at the CC, even watching some cricket early on in the season.
They should be trying to match and better whatever the CC offer

99% may not be supporters of the cricket club, but I would imagine somewhere near 99% of Burnley fans have no desire to try and in effect punish the cricket club
