Watched both Rangers/Celtic games over the last 2 nights in the Champions league, these two clubs would struggle in the Championship the standard is shocking can these two clubs be classed as massive clubs?, the size of their support is the only thing that's massive.

I watched Rangers last night in a Portuguese bar. I agree with you. Dire. They'd struggle in the Championship, alright.

Scottish football is awful in general.

The old firm fans delusion is also massive. They think they are big players in the football world.

Gotta make their existance important somehow, seeing as domestically there is just no competition and must be as dull as dishwater watching that.

Both felt like really big clubs in the nineties and probably into the noughties as well. They had some big names in football like Larsson, Laudrup etc.

Then Rangers had massive financial issues and were relegated to the third division and suddenly Celtic no longer had the same competition driving them on to keep improving. They're spending the same sorts of transfer fees on players today as they were doing back in the 90s/ 2000s.

Celtic were shocking. Passed the ball well until 30 yds from goal and then nothing. Kazhaks defended really well but with all that possession you have to have a pot now and again.
Wouldn’t rule them out though as Kazhaks will have to come out next week and they might find a hole.
Ridiculous they are in the competition. 200 miles from China FGS. Only in because one small portion of an enormous country is West of the Urals.

The only thing massive in Scottish football is the enthusiasm for the game Every small village has a team and the Highland league has a reserve division at the same level as our level 7 games
I was always a very enthusiastic amateur who played for Bunillidth Thistle our Helmsdale village team .We had fishermen, builders and shepherd's making up our side. The Scots love football and a coach travelled the 200+ miles to Glasgow to watch Rangers home games.Of recent times Inverness Caly and Dingwall based Ross County have joined the top division. The rules very fluid and its akin to watching pub teams kicking lumps off each other

I must say the Kazhaks love their football .
Had to change planes in Almaty going to an Irish international , had a fair few locals come up to me talking about football . Yep you can see the Hinda kush mountain range from the airport .

The only thing keeping it going is religious bigotry. Take that out and the whole Scottish football system collapses into total irrelevance

They're getting worse comparatively to English sides. Don't get me wrong both clubs are still capable of pulling a result off against decent opposition but they wouldn't do it consistently over a season. It's always given them a false sense of where they rank in the football pyramid to be honest.
