"The Clarets have also been dealt a blow in that area after Jordan Beyer, suffered a setback following 19 months out with a knee injury" reported by BBC Sport
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/ar ... 36j3d4rn7o
Do we know if this is long-term (again)? I knew he had played in at least one ffriendly, and his interview at that time was so positive.

I too read that article this morning. I really do worry that after this latest set back he’s done.

It's not news - it was reported a number of weeks ago, probably around the time he didn't feature when we played Huddersfield/Shrewsbury. The report just said a setback.

I thought that. He was always going to have setbacks after that long out, all sorts of strains on the body going through recovery.
Nothing to worry about really.

Hopefully it is just that but you are right, when players are out for a long time, they pick up all sorts of niggles such as hamstring and calf strains. It can take an age to fully recover.

It's a bad one unfortunately, really feel for the lad, he's put loads of work in.

It will soon be two years since Beyer played a game of football.

A class player in that first season under Kompany. Really feel for him at the moment. Seems a genuinely decent fellow. Will definetly need that 'close team spirit,' built up last season, around him.Behind you all the way, Jordan.

Reminds me of Chris McCann’s lengthy injury but he did eventually make a full recovery

Never the same player after Turner, Sunderland, took him out. Shame cos he was already looking a PL player.

He was looking a revelation in the Prem. Really suited his game.

Its a massive shame for the lad and us but i'll be surprised if he ever gets back playing at a good level.

The problem being setback seems to be used for anything these days from a week out to 6 months. His original injury was probably described as a set back at the time.
I'm a bit baffled that he even got on the pitch at all, he was really obviously still.limping heavily, however much people on here say that he wasn't.

A massive shame as he was fantastic in Kompany’s first season. Also comes across in his interviews really well.

He looked to be limping quite badly when he attended the fixtures breakfast.

It was quite evident at the fixture release that he was nowhere near ready to play football at any level .

He absolutely was. Looked a million miles away. Moving very gingerly and his step up and down to and from the mini stage they had set up looked a real effort for him.
Sadly, I don’t believe we’ll see him play at this level (or any meaningful level) again. Massive shame, looked a real talent. A fit Beyer starts for this team.

Are we nearing the stage where we get an insurance payout if he is unlikely to recover this season?

We will never know but I'd love to hear the reasoning behind his friendly outing. It looked a bit of a crazy decision
