Patrick Bamford

Daniel Farke has reportedly told our erstwhile loanee that he's not part of Super Leeds plans. Instead of training with the Under 21s, and just 4 years since he played international football for England, PB has decided to leave and his contract has been terminated by "mutual consent".
Sad though it is to see someone lose their job, in this case I'll not be tempted to shed a tear.

Out of interest, what exactly has he done to upset you?
I know Dyche wasn't a fan of him, he played for Leeds but other than that, I can't see why he'd be hated so much.

He did incredibly well for them in the Champ and Prem.
Worth a shot for many teams in the Champ.

I'm sure there are plenty of championship clubs who'd take a punt on him. No need to get the violins out.

I can never understand why people take a dislike to someone just because they played for another team, in this case Leeds. He’s probably a really nice lad that’s suddenly been told you’re not wanted. If he was my son I’d be devastated for him. I hope he finds another club and enjoys his remaining career.

People don’t dislike him because he played for Leeds
People dislike him because he played for us, which is bonkers

Never heard anyone (apart from Dyche**) have a bad word to say about him. Good professional on the field and decent bloke by all accounts.
He admitted to crying in a car when he was unhappy.
Privately educated
Plays the violin
Good for him.

Was at Leicester when he played up top against Wes Morgan and Robert Huth on his own, never had a chance.

The character Billy Parham from ‘The Amazing World of Gumball’ always reminds me of Bamford.

Dyche very much had his favourites. Seemed to have a problem with Bamford just because he had a more privileged background than most footballers.

I've just read that he only played for us 6 times with a total of 34 minutes on the pitch, 17 touches of the ball. My memory of him is that he played a lot more. His infamy probably skewed my memory a little.

WOW. Hate. I'm not sure I hate anyone; dislike some yes and there's certainly several former Leeds players that I was not keen on - Hunter, Giles, Bremner come immediately to mind. Patrick Bamford is nowhere near that category, to me.
Just my opinion but I think he's a bit soft and was fortunate to get an England cap. The comment about not shedding a tear was merely a reference to him reportedly crying in his car when he was at Burnley.
I believe he will attract interest from good championship clubs and could sign for one if he wants to, but if he does I think he'll spend a lot of time on the treatment table.

Not sure I take Dyche's word for Gospel on anything. Decent enough player that will do a job at Championship level for someone.

I thought he always looked dangerous for Leeds. Great touch and could finish. Wish him all the best in finding a club. Sheffield United written all over it imo

He told him at the end of last season but he’s not found another club so they’ve mutually agreed to terminate his contract. Doing it now means he can join a club after the window closes.

It's meant to be a bit of banter to give Bamford a bit of stick - anyone who genuinely has a feeling of 'hatred' for him needs to have a long look at themselves in the mirror.

Dyche had a problem with Bamford because he had a privileged background? Really?? In that case, why would he sign him?
Any evidence of that?
Or was that the narrative from the media?
Bamford is fine, it didn't work out at Burnley, but he's a very good footballer. Not sure he deserves any grief.

Bit of a soft lad isn't he? Maybe a generational thing. Kind of character my kids tell me off for criticising. Maybe they are right and I'm wrong. In fact, most probably. In my eyes he'd be better shutting up and cracking on with getting a new team. In their eyes he's being real and in touch with his emotions.

His dad owns JCB and he was a bright academic. From memory he came on loan without Sean wanting him and his dad negotiated a lot of add one. He was privileged and seemed aloof. He never gelled like Ben Gibson another loanee Sean didn’t seem to want.
Neither got many chances to shine. He was a thorn in our side at Leeds. Good luck to him wherever he ends up.

No he doesn't, his dad's an architect.
He's explained how this myth developed numerous times.

Spot on.
If anything, for me Dyche didn't come out of this situation looking good.
It was actually a form of bullying.

Dyche was no fan of Vydra either for whatever reason. Definitely had a preference for certain characters. Which is fine we all do, but in Bamfords case it did seem a tad discriminatory.

I seem to recall, though no idea if it’s correct or not, that Bamford said something along the lines of ‘I’m not defending, I’m a striker…’.
Whether or not that’s true, he was a poor fit for Dyche - who sounds like he didn’t exactly handle things well either.

Yes, especially when top clubs and managers actively encourage parental input.

Either some posters have the low down on a lot of things that I wouldn’t expect them to know, but happy to guess at, based on snippets of info that may well be wrong, or there’s some absolute shite being posted by people who know the square root of sod all.

Whilst I will be ever grateful to Sean Dyche for what he did for our club and the joy and pleasure he gave me and my son during his tenure. All the fantastic results and away days, seeing my team compete in the Premier League and in European competition.
However, there remains a part of me that was always uncomfortably with his management and management style.
He certainly showed traits which in my opinion amounted to bullying. And as a father I see nothing wrong in Bamford’s parents attending the occasion of the beginning of the next stage of his career.
